BlueClone - The Blue Room's Own Comms System

The 3-pin XLR is pin compatible but that ClearCom data sheet specifies -20dB for the audio line signal which might be a bit quiet for BlueCom. No harm will come to either system by plugging them together to experiment.

One caveat is that the ClearCom PTT may not work with Granite Audio (Stonewood) systems as they pulse the signalling voltage rather than having a constant level.

Hi John

That's mean that the wireless Clear-Com would listen our Blue-Com's in low level?

Or the Clear-com would listen loud and the blue-com listen it in low level?

The BlueCom system might receive a low level from the ClearCom box and the ClearCom box might receive a high level from the BlueCom system. The only way to find out is to plug them together and see what happens. BlueCom has the advantage that it's possible to quickly adjust the mic amplifier gain on all the beltpacks to compensate for different line levels.

Is there currently a CPC sreadsheet for this, the couple I've tried to view seem to be extinct.

My boards arrived on 13th Janwhich was an amasing service from China after the confusion of my incorrect ordering.

In the confusion of correcting the order it seems I ordered an extra 10 boards which are available for purchase along with 3 front/back panels in black.

Right, I'm starting to source the bits and so far have found most items in CPC.Items I'm struggling with are:

IC4 - TCA0372, without paying silly money or risking Chinese copies, currently I'm looking at SMT version and an 8 pin socket to make it??

PL2 - XLR4F at under £5

SW3 - mic switch?  also the more I look at this the more I think it looks very fiddly, has anyone any comments or made any mods?

SW2 knob, These seem to have dropped out of circulation, I have some which are too big and considering filing the panels - ouch.

Right, I'm starting to source the bits and so far have found most items in CPC.Items I'm struggling with are:

IC4 - TCA0372, without paying silly money or risking Chinese copies, currently I'm looking at SMT version and an 8 pin socket to make it??

I built a set of 4 plus PSU, with components from either CPC or Farnell (even though they are the same company, the prices can be very different). Looks like I got the resistors from Farnell and the capacitors from CPC due to pricing/MOQ. All of the Neutrik XLRs came from Canford (40-454, 41-813, 41-801) except the XLR4F from Farnell:

IC4: Farnell 1651877 http://uk.farnell.co...om%2Fw%2Fsearch 97p+VAT

PL2: Farnell 1108201 http://uk.farnell.co...om%2Fw%2Fsearch, yep £4.47+VAT

SW3: Farnell 1550089 http://uk.farnell.co...om%2Fw%2Fsearch £2.84+VAT

SW2 knob: Yep, they don't seem to be available any more, in any colour :-( (http://www.blue-room...ndpost&p=542286)

Volume knob: Farnell 1441136 http://uk.farnell.co...om%2Fw%2Fsearch 61p+VAT

Other bits might include:

Screws for Neutrik mount: CPC AV18050

Turned pin 8DIP sockets: Farnell 2778173 http://uk.farnell.co...om%2Fw%2Fsearch

Belt clips: eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-STEEL-STRONG-METAL-BELT-CLIP-UTILITY-SPRING-CLIP-MONEY-CLIP-MULTI-USES-/262472166194?hash=item3d1c8f6b32

Admittedly I was also ordering for CPlater1 (http://www.blue-room...p?showuser=3926) so the Canford order was viable...

I've probably got a few bits left over if you're really struggling for a part. I've got PSU PCBs and PSU end panels if you're interested (geez, weren't they a costly exercise in using a Chinese PCB house who made a mistake the first time by not drilling the holes for the XLRs... http://www.blue-room...ndpost&p=544129)

Happy to cross-check CPC/Farnell part numbers with you against my BOM/order if that helps.

CK components switches also have a 3.3mm square shaft and Farnell have over 1,700 of these in stock. The short side should be OK but the long side might be a bit tight. The CK Components G002x series would fit perfectly but don't sem to be stocked by Franell.

Thanks for the useful responses.I haven't got into the Mouser habit yet as the only two orders so far have been filled from USA stock with the appropriate delay (3 weeks) so I'm still a bit wary.

Now for the strange bit, when I searched Farnell from a PC the only Tda0372's are SMT, from another PC the through holes are there and the same is true for the mic switch, very strange!

Can ford prices are also wierd with Xlr4 at £2.25 (good) but other items are far from competitive, then the minimum order value.

Hopefully I'll be able to jump back on this Wednesday and place orders.

Anyone else buying currently for joint order benefits? Especially canford.

Found them at last! Mouser stock the correct white button (Alps part 4093-3). A pack of 10 for €1.41 and there are 125 in stock.

Sounds like the next person to do a Mouser should do a bulk buy for us! It’s the only part I couldn’t source; fortunately boatman saved the day for Chris and my builds but he has none left now.
