I had to learn how to get the most out of any individual light, and what can actually be done with each type. Without that sort of education and just wiggling a few moving lights, and I wouldn't have nearly the same understand of how to come up with an effective, efficient lighting design, especially one on a budget. paulears
Moderation: I've merged this reopening of an old topic with the most recent one, and put it in next gen. Please remember we don't open brand new topics when they've already been done - always worth a search in the google box, or for new members, a read of the main sections. Next Generation has plenty of school/college topics that may be of interest.Paulmods

heinz57
My old school (what I left just over 3 years ago) has recently had a new 6th form block built. Yesterday my amdram group moved into this build to use it as our new rehersal space. Inside the build there is both a new hall and a new drama studio. During rehersals yesterday I got to see a rough idea the equipment in the hall. LIGHTING - About 20 PAR64sAbout 10 source 4sAbout 8 Fresnels (not sure on rating)2 Betapack 2s - total of 24 sockets and 12 ways of dimming. Currently disconnected and stored - need to be connected up to the mains for each showMore cables than you can shake a stick at The rig comes in the form of various lengths of ASTRA 3 chord (Triangle) truss with support systems to create a freestanding structure (no hanging points in the roof) SOUND - (Not my feild)A flight case mounted system consisting of Amps, equalizer, CD, Minidisc etc from PHONIC and DAP Audio9-12 channel basic mixer4 wall mounted loud speakers, DAP Audio I belive.Radio mics from DAP Audio. I'm not sure how many OTHER - Retractable seating with about 240 capacityWooden deck 'rostra' stageing (Stored in the main school)_____________ There is more stuff but I didn't get to see it. I reckon it's probably in the drama studio. There's a few more lights, a lighting desk (Not sure what), some more sound stuff and I reckon theres probably another betapack somewhere EDIT - Slight alteration

robhall3192
my college has 10 1k Fresnels 8 1/2 k Fresnels 4 zoom profiles 5 pcs 8 led parcans and some rubbish Australian lighting console iv never seen anywhere else before. Sounds a very decent kit for a college to me. If only my school would take on the idea of spending and buying some LED would be over the moon. And is the desk just rubbish as you don't understand it or a cheaper poor brand ?
