  1. I know we could do this system with what we use. I could hazard its been suggested in one of our installs. I'm fairly confident we have run something similar on screens. The actual "method's" would not be too hard but knocking on the door of 500-800+ per panel not including install and cables. AND protection from customers.
  2. Hi, We are looking for 8-12 ARRI ST2 Studio Fresnel, Pole op + ideally as a package with barndoors etc. IF anyone is selling a number of units either the ARRI units or another 2k film light we would be interested. Drop me a PM Oh Shipping will be to Europe, but we can see how to do that.
  3. Interesting you say about Chinese sellers, Here we have a tax added to anything from a shop thats not EU. It's about £7.50, ABSOLUTLY not designed to curb the massive rise of wish/ali express etc etc. The Swedish postal service have made an agreement with wish about items, exactly how it works im not sure. https://www.postnord.se/ta-emot/hamta/fran-annat-land-import/faq-om-avtalet-med-wish What I am aware of is already private packages coming this way have been hit with taxes, and a few people have had packages returned kindly by DHL after taking their money as DHL had a stop on EU-UK shipping after the agreement
  4. Might want to look at reddit.com/r/homelab its not "uk" centric but lots of uk people and quite many people in various levels of madness
  5. Chatting with a friend at an arena, his friends over in America are not planning on touching Europe until at least late 2021, maybe 2022. Its just not worth the big acts coming over doing half a tour and being stuck, or having to cut short. With "most" nations doing changes semi regularly its a bit hard to commit. Next week we are going to 300 people in a PUBLIC setting with 1m space, 50 people in a club or dance place (just after Halloween party's where private gatherings of 50+ is ok) . The cynic in me says its because we have hockey and bandy starting up, because theatres are not going to be doing too much, one county even said they are not going up in the limit.
  6. Yeh removing the top foam is more important than the glue. Honestly we have found a really sharp blade, like a glass scraper is better than anything else, I think when we have been told to remove labels from cases for sale (as we do sometimes) we budget around 30 mins +
  7. Is it glue or label, the ones from lemark that are foam backed are hellish. We usually use most of what people have said above, also have used heat before to just loosen the foam as it is usually the foam thats hanging about on the top and prevents anything getting to the actual glue to remove. Then a sharp knife to razor off.
  8. This is the the reddit post I refereed to - quite a few ideas and options on mounting also -
  9. My thought also, something like a pi controller and a hat that takes sim + battery pack. All that could be super small format battery can be replaced (or however big or small )
  10. I have not, But I am fairly my boss has done using the unifi airmax stuff a few years back - https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/205197750-airMAX-Which-product-should-I-use-#2 Having a quick look about some people have done battery POE packs, I guess depends on your access to replace said packs. It must be ip rated due to how they are designed to be installed, but cant see right now how much. I am also aware of some tests people have done using their kit for remote control diggers / earth movers using airmax stuff on gyroscopes.
  11. Its been some years but the issue I had was also the combined "getting it done" element. Is there money to send / take a bunch of weighted drapes to a cleaner who can accommodate them? I am sure there are some industrial laundry places gagging for the work, but is there the "budget" for that? There IS the budget to replace them.
  12. Evening from Sweden. backstory - government takes advice from FHM who are the public health side of things, they don't really go the other way. Also FHM cannot say "this is law" unlike in the uk where a department says "we need this, make it happen" and it does. https://www.expressen.se/nyheter/mikael-damberg-och-amanda-lind-haller-presstraff-1/ (use translate ) the breakdown is that govenment has asked that FHM look at changing the 50 person rule - it appears no specific limit change. However you can have 250 in a restaurant no issues, you cannot add a singer because then its an event, and you cannot have public events. (note public) So the current request seems to be "seating only, 50+ people, with distance" what form that will take will be interesting, but its pencilled to change October 1, oddly enough around the time when all our government support is stopping.
  13. Ours are in clone so with the 2u? twin mount - great for bigger shows, maybe less so for smaller theatre.
  14. We run most of the qlab shows on mac mini now. it is arguably dull with having to lug a screen around . If someone had a stand - mac - screen vesa combo that worked I can see that being worth while. I imagine combined not much change out of the same price. I think the new fancy pros we have are nice and all, but spending £120 on a dongle for dual HDMI out and needing a back up or 2 + the usb ones. It is just silly. I have never compared truly, but is SCS really not a great alternative or is it a bit "not quite pro"
  15. That might be the config I had, it was certainly not anything I have ever seen.
  16. Probably connected with where the lx desk was sited when the outlets were last numbered. SL>SR makes perfect sense when the desk is in the wings, but highly confusing when it's out-front. Outlet numbering order never mattered in the many years I was in the business as everything was soft patched as a matter of course anyway. Unless some clever cloggs makes up a bar for ONE show and never actually wrote it down (see old amdram) 1 3 2 5 4 6 8 7 9 11 12 - I think or something as strange as that. If it is a studio / free space I would say everything is from the main door / where FoH Views from. FoH - 1 -2 -3 -4
  17. I am getting off the point but surely this is just down to probability. Although the photos of "crowds" have been widely put about by the media, in fact it was a relatively small number of people compared to the whole population, so the chance of transmission is low.A lot of the population is still hunkered down and not going out - which seems to be enough to keep the virus under control. As people return to general circulation, that's when it could start to build again. Yeah, I'm not quite sure on this one.To me, the theory that many thousands of people from different areas of the country, travel to the same relatively small space and crowd a beach somewhere (or a demo, et al) means that the likelihood of some of those being symptomatic is quite high. And the likelihood of close contact with others who may NOT be infected is also high, (though perhaps not as high as you might think, as I ponder) - ipso facto, the risk of multiple cross-fertilising has to be medium at least. But as we've seen, it's turned out not so. One thing I missed was the point that deaths HAVE been falling (which s great) because a small percentage of seriously affected have responded well to the anti-inflammatory drugs they've been using of late. Many people tend to look at the falling death rate as a lead stat, but it should be the R1 rate that is the important one to watch. How I understand it, is that whilst yes many people and "trying"? to keep distance it is outside. The trump event in Tulsa was reportedly a confirmed spike of quite a large number, no masks, no social distance and importantly inside where there are surfaces to touch and lick. I have not read in anything about spikes following any BLM stuff UK or other. It will be interesting now disney US has opened in some locations. Now for the Sweden bit - We can do events for 50 people or less, 50 total inc crew, when it was called I saw a friends company do a gig, 2 ops + speaker + 47 guests in 2 rooms and they moved people about and were clever. HOWEVER a theme park, a loose term more like a themed venue, think harry potter in london, near has closed. They have been told they cannot open, even though they can do quite a bit of controls, but they wanted (and arguably need to) to do shows of 50 people at a time, I think they had 2 spaces like a cinema and were proposing staggered in/out but not sure. Where this goes is that a massive massive shopping center is open, as is everything else here, its 30km2 shopping space and had 3500 people last weekend so 8m per person, excluding shelving etc. But its still packed. we will see in 2 weeks what happens.
  18. and how heavy. more important how do you light a sheet of glass ? It was mentioned by Lloyd Webber a few weeks ago that it had been mooted to him and he "really hoped it was not a serious consideration"
  19. We store legs on the shelf and throw in cases as needed. Usually its 1m and under. the 1.2m we send a few of and have some slim 40x40x120 cases that they fit in "just". They are flipable but not easily liftable. We dont have the format im thinking of but cargocart in germany have some frame works with boxes that are pretty good for legs/deck stuff as needed. If anything our biggest issue is the deck- Just too much of it.
  20. We have not had issues with clear dance tape. Provided its been cut and wrapped not stretched round.
  21. Just seen from which that apparently if you contact local authority you can get a food box from them weekly (If you are both on the list you get 2) https://www.which.co.uk/news/2020/04/how-can-coronavirus-vulnerable-households-get-food-deliveries/
  22. Right now. ###### horrific. 500 limit hit Tuesday night, basically nothing for the future planned, We are "planning" a busy September but im not even sure that it will be. The things planned will go on, the things now will just be scrapped. The things that WILL happen will be smaller in scale, simply because of the money.
  23. Bear with me - We have some traxon http://www2.traxontechnologies.com/products/product_details/5705/ We made a massive clock in it 7 segment style , I dont have a photo but each "puck" is waterproof + RGB + so 3 channels a puck. We do have tonnes of it as a possible option.
  24. It's a real dilemma for manufacturers - if you've got a product ready to launch, with marketing campaign and materials primed, do you hold off for 8 weeks, or just release it anyway? I guess depends how much you want to do and spend. Is a massive press hit better than waiting for a show ? The motorshow we had stuff at. Ready to go and they pulled it. It seems like there is still quite a bit going on, they did a bunch of press junkets and demos, I guess a day or so. But our one was a massive stand, big show off. They needed to do something, doing nothing would have been worse.
  25. The unifi stuff needs something to teach it what to do. I think you can use a phone to do config, once running it is happy, the "issue" is if you want to add a config or something you need to re attach a controller. The cloud controller is their name, so its not cloud as such, you can use AWS, any pc or a pi to run the controller if you so wish.
