  1. But what value terminator as theres now 2 of em in the circuit, is it a simple parallel connection so 240 ohm at each end or is there more to it?
  2. if they are still capable of doing the job why change? If there looking a bit tatty thats nothing a tin of filler, bit of sanding and bucket of tuff cab wont cure
  3. xlr connectors with switching contacts like wot jack sockets have.
  4. You'll find XLRs with built in contacts at the left end of the rainbow, just beside the pile unicorn manure. Time to add them to the wish they made thread I thinks.
  5. or a 35mm cap thingy that has a threaded hole in it with the half coupler bolted to it,but either way its gonna cost more than 20 quid
  6. Not sure what size hammer you need to get it to fit a s4 junior, but if a full fat s4 is acceptable https://norcostco.com/rosco-image-pro/
  7. was more an everyday electronics reader,as that was all that was available in the school library, and then hobby electronics and coincidently the maplins mag.You can find most of the old mags over at https://www.worldradiohistory.com/index.htm ETI for example https://www.worldradiohistory.com/ETI_Magazine.htm
  8. By that logic RS, farnell ,rapid etc must also be badly run, RS for example has nearly 100 5mm red leds to chose from. Indeed, ive used them sevral time when they've worked out cheapest. Was just initially surprised "maplins" were back stocking actual components, and then curious when I spotted the similarity between the two sites.
  9. dig down into the products and youll see both sites are identical, right down to the sku code
  10. Bit of thread necromancy https://pro.maplin.co.uk/ https://www.switchelectronics.co.uk/ similar?
  11. if the lamps not on id expect any decent fixture to ramp down or turn off the fan ,and if the kit was left on you've removed the biggest point of failure, powering up.
  12. Id go the other way around, leave the existing DMX alone and chuck the splitter on the DMX out of the last dimmer
  13. Nope your not wrong, the problem is with spurs off the ring ,as it stands only 1 double or 1 single socket per unfused spur is permitted, and its because of this that 3 gang sockets are fitted with a fuse,to protect us from numptys.
  14. im not disagreeing that such a beast would be dam handy, but to introduce such a beastie would require a change to the regs. Also apprentices would hate them, chopping the back box in would be a bugger of a job, those old cooker panels were bad enough.
  15. 26A aint to much over the rating of 2.5mm in most cases so not too much of a worry and remember we should only be drawing a maximum of 20A from double sockets anyways
  16. none, but the luvly big book of rules dont like it,hence why those 3 gang sockets are fitted with a fuse, just in case there fed as a spur off the ring
  17. An unfused 8 gang would require a rewrite of the wiring regs making them a bit pricey even if you never fitted one
  18. 30 year ago a revox with the slide syc function and a zero 88 sirus could do it fairly painlessly without the need for any computer assistance.
  19. pressume youve tried https://secure.chamsys.co.uk/help/documentation/magicq/troubleshooting.html
  20. Does the ABTT pyro handbook still have a circuit diagram in the back to make your own pyro firer?
  21. Ok apart from possible bryson how many of us have included bears in the venue as part of our risk assessments
  22. Or 10mm stud ,wing bolt and a welder, little bit more work but you can get whatever length you want
  23. Sounds like in rush current, power your rig up in stages instead of all at once if possible
