  1. anybody done an LED conversion? How did it go?
  2. Back in the day I remember touring bands would carry the ramp under the truck and use it to unload to ground level. That was an accident waiting to happen but H&S wasn't a priority. Luckily I only did a few without a reasonably level dock access/leveler. Truck ramps are bloody heavy. Our Ballet Ramps were in three sections from memory but a ba*stard to manoeuvre. Still unsure of the purpose of the OP? if it is a museum exhibit that needs a ramp wouldn't hiring in a solution be cheaper? Anything from a super lift to genie or forklift? If "passenger" then DDA applies. Don't suppose steel deck have a solution?
  3. https://www.stage-electrics.co.uk/View/22577/altair-5143-wam-100-2sec-in-ear-headset-4p-xlr does this work with your system?
  4. I admit that I haven't a clue what you mean? How are you acquiring the distorted image in the first place? or do you wish to keystone an image already in the machine?
  5. You don’t need a projector. Unless your’re doing some kind of slide projected? a friend has done cyanotype with just sunlight. I lent her some LED UV floods and it was fine. When doing silk screen printing, the artwork is just in contact with the medium and hit with a UV lightbox

  7. which is why many shops or public buildings have those one person lift enclosures that only go up a metre. My local JL store evolved from a victorian building and some departments ate up/down three or four steps. The cream coloured "box style" lifts seem to be ubiquitous. It's pretty much a forklift with a cabin where a pallet would be. https://www.levellifts.co.uk/products/compact-open-style-lift/
  8. we used to have ballet ramps as there wasn't enough room in the wings for dancers to slow down. I know that for a venue I go to the disabled ramp runs from centre downstage across to PS and folds back. The stage is only 1M high but you're restricted by a manageable angle
  9. Define safe? Years ago we had a computer tucked away as if on a high shelf but it swung down for access. It was some kind of kitchen food mixer bracket intended to be fitted under a work surface and allowed the mixer to swing out and up to be at work surface height. We used it integers, so the PC was swung up out of reach and lowered for access. Obviously a kitchen accessory device doesn't"t lock but it's simple to add a padlock. Or a linear actuator that slides the camera down a rail? Into a box when not in use? A cheap pantograph off amazon might work, you could have a box high up, pantograph pulls down and some kind of location plate mates with a fixed bracket on the wall with a quick release bracket as on Tripods. when finished, release the bracket and push up into the box.

    Flickering TV

Just a flatscreen in a box with a video feed or PowerPoint of different coloured slides. The slides could be cued by remote / key so that it changes on cue or just turned to a video clip on export from PP. if necessary the “tv” and media device could be battery operated if it has to be struck in a hurry
  11. Worst comes to worse, epoxy it and include a safety to the horn itself. You may find that total replacement is cheaper than fixing it I think horns are a common thread?

    Lighting PAT

PAT was developed for portable equipment and lights that get rigged and derigged are obviously in that category. A decent tech would give gear a visual check each time they took it from the store, a hire co hopefully on each return. If the stuff stays rigged, once a year along with a wash and grease should be fine IMHO
  13. Is Georgia perhaps a student asking about a school production? I just get that vibe. could a wire barrier be a solution to an “invisible” rail?

  15. 3M make a strip intended to fit body trim onto cars. Maybe similar to the number plate stuff? But if a car in hot sun stays together, and nothing falls off at 90mph it’s pretty strong.
  16. I guess you could do the sight gag of the cast flinching and looking at practical props smashing/falling spinning in the auditorium?
  17. All I can think off would be a laser like light but bounced off the mist? I also see the point about no strings but could a fishing line be used as a guide wire and be pulled onstage by a second wire? Problem is what to do with the fake arrow if it arrives.

    1kw Fresnels

Daft question, but have you ever serviced/ washed the lenses? I cleaned a shed load of 743’s and others once and nigh on doubled the light output. I had been taught to clean them in my first theatre job and it’s amazing how many people have filthy lanterns, then moan about dim lighting
  19. That's great if you have an iPhone and aren't inside a semi Faraday cage. Our building used to have so much steel in it that you couldn't make a mobile call without going outside. texts all arrived when you were half way home Granted, I started this querying it on a theatrical licensing type issue but since we abandoned POTS, our wall mounted phones are replaced by half that number of VOIP 'phones" for emergencies, none of which are in corridors or public areas. All individual Vox calls require us to log onto our computer. Tricky when you're holding the right hand fingers in your left hand.
  20. One issue with a winch type arrangement is that you come under LOLER? so annual inspections etc? does it drop during a show? Or you just need it to be up high and be pulled down for shows? I was thinking pantograph suspension?
  21. DataVideo are handled by Holdan. They are pretty knowledgable and might be willing to arrange a test ? It would help if you knew the distance from camera to stage?
  22. They aren’t cheap. At least they weren’t when first introduced. I guess that you gain a seat or two ticket wise every performance.
