  1. We tried some of those LED replacement lamps in our nocturnes. They were lamentably dim at full and didn't dim at all well on our strand dimmers. There's a reason linear halogen is exempt from the purge.
  2. Are you after "domestic" hi-fi style speakers or pro/semi pro style stage cabs? House clearances can be a source of large-ish speaker cabs from old music centres.
  3. Earlier you appeared to be trying to justify not offering hydration salts because someone turned out to be allergic to celery or garlic. The two are unrelated, is the point I was making. They were not allergic to salt, but to celery or garlic, which, as Brian pointed out, are known to be allergens and celery is one that must be listed on ingredients as one of the allergens possibly in the food.
  4. So not allergic to "salt" rather they were allergic to known allergens. Which was the point.
  5. Although if he gets diarrhoea at the mixing position he knows now who to turn to.
  6. Celery salt and garlic salt are salt flavoured with extracts from the plants, and they are known allergens.
  7. Just a reminder - this is coming out over the coming week. Anyone who can use SLD parts for spares is welcome to scavenge, otherwise I guess it goes for recycling.
  8. What mix of lanterns are you looking for? Fresnels, profiles, PAR can replacements, maybe a mix of all of these, or others? You'll need to budget for something to control them, too. That could be an existing PC/laptop with a dongle running free software, or a console.
  9. Cant do office hours, I'm afraid. Let me check for this weekend, as I may have a backstage meeting I can't avoid on Saturday.
  10. A similar discussion took place on the control booth forum recently about first aid kits in the USA. The suggested action there was not to "offer" anything such as painkillers etc, but to suggest that "there may be something in my bag you may decide to take and use, but I can't actually offer it to you. Your choice". Probably still leaves you open to litigation, though.
  11. I've seen the occasional posting in Facebook groups where people say they prefer it to EOS, but few and far between.
  12. I've been informed that over the summer (so most likely August) this year we'll be decommissioning and striking our SLD96 rack. We have about 100 (I'd need to count them) dimmer modules, mainly 10A, and the rack itself has two processor modules fitted. The whole lot is coming out, and we'll be disposing, so before it goes to reclamation, we're wondering if anyone is likely to want to salvage all of it or part of it. It's located in Caterham, Surrey. It has the usual SLD96 foibles, to wit the connectors between the nessie cards are a bit temperamental and it then has a habit of thinking it's in overtemp and running its fans at full. Wiggling the dimmer that is flashing usually cures it. It has served us well. Its original home was the London Colosseum. Anyway, a heads up. Anyone who is interested I can put in touch with the technical director. We'd prefer it went as a whole lot, but if need be we'll break up.
  13. I'll put it somewhere safe until you can get over. It even has an original huge lamp still in it.
  14. We have one in excellent condition in Caterham. I got it out of the loft this morning, it's yours to collect.
  15. Also showing as unavailable (to me, anyway).
  16. Those files are showing as unavailable.
  17. I'll check in our loft after David Copperfield comes down. We have some old lanterns that I think have been kept more to use as props than anything else, and you never know what's in a dark corner.
  18. That link requires a sign in. I think I saw this on Facebook , and the same comments apply, have you checked the cabling is not damaged and that the line is properly terminated?
  19. Certainly doesn't look as if it has a DMX card in it - it would be to the right of the analogue in, with 5-pin in and out and termination switch and rotary address dials, if it's anything like ours. We're still using ours, since going LED, instead of powering up a 96 way SLD we plug in an Act 6 or two for incandescent specials and practicals.
  20. What appears to be a blackout light is lit, suggesting it's in blackout mode, so pressing "blackout" until that light is off would be my first guess. Although, that would be strange if the lanterns themselves are actually pulsing. Unless that's "full on".
  21. That's a 40MHz 8051 compatible. Flash programmable 32K ROM. I suppose it might have forgotten its program. I wonder if U9 is the NVR?
  22. Could it be - long shot this - that the program is held, not in mask ROM, but in eprom, and its started to decay, so a bit here and there are wrong? Nah, didn't think so.
  23. I'll ask around - we have an SLD96 that obviously at some point was commissioned. We may have a copy somewhere, and it's unlikely to be required further as we're retiring the rack.
