Opening cable mounted Tourmate/Multilock Socapex compatible connectors

Specifically which way does the back twist to get it off, I haven't managed to budge them in either direction.

I couldn't find any grub screws.

I also had to open a LK Connector version.  That had a grub screw, transpired that had be twisted clockwise to get it off which was counter intuitive for me and the threads were oxidised.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but it's been 20 years since I've worked on socapex fittings.

I think the only part where it unscrews  is hereimage.png.de2100b7a8546f92ccf3bc816112e937.pngand is there not some lockring or screws by the pins holding the block in place.

The difficulty I have is we didn't use many but we used a selection of types/makes.

If I recall correctly, you need to plug it into another socapex of the opposing gender. That then gives you something to hold in order to to unscrew the body from the pin assembly. Unscrewing the gland first (as you have on the middle unit) also helps!

Thank you for the input folks. Already tried suggestions. I have just had another look at them and there is no grub screw apparent on thes. In all other respects the exploded diagram looks like what I am looking at.

Ideally mating it to a panel connector then using a strap wrench, that should get it off...

This is what I ended up doing with some and it eventually worked. Was a complete PITA though, enough that I'd try to avoid Tourmate connections in future.

I remember some exhibited a specialist tool at Plasa (possibly the last year it was at Earl's Court, so going back a bit). It looked neat but was quite expensive for one specific task.

From my years of bodging motorbikes when I was a teen... I see you've already got the Plusgas out and copious amounts of that and a lot of patience will help but another aid might be to tap it all the way around with a hammer and drift or chisel held tangentially to the ring. Tap it in the unscrewing direction of course. You have a good surface to tap against with all the knurly bits.

Lots already mentioned but my main tips for these being lock to an opposing connector, remove the gland completely, remember that the thread is reverse. And when nothing else works, get the gas grips out.
