Wonder if one of reasons not found in UK often, apart from the knock off connotations,is they are an old design and can,as pointed out, get an original second hand for much the same money.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. While some very good power supplies are made in China, there are some where the person designing it had zero understanding of electrical separation. That can involve mains to low voltage track or pad separation of a fraction of a millimetre, or a transformer with the secondary windings wound tightly right against the primary side windings with just a layer of varnish between you and a bad experience. Even if it doesn't happen straight away, it could happen later due to the degradation of the varnish at elevated temperatures in an undersized transformer.

 

With a lighting desk that could also be the kiss of death to random lights on a network.

Not worried about reliability until you have an unreliable and unsupported desk...

buy a real one and save yourself future problems

I have had over 20yrs use from a real avo pearl with hardly any problems

Hi all,

I have a MQ60 but also have some blue hardware that unlocks magic Q pc which I use in my workshop for testing DMX lights that I am repairing. One thing I did do was get a Netbuddy from Smartshow which I can use to get DMX into the pc and use a cheap lighting desk to control magic Q PC. a cheap 12 channel desk from thonnan works a treat for faders.

 

As I have a usb blue hardware from chamsys for DMX out it unlocks the software to get DMX in
