Enlarging and editing a real £20 note.

Anybody know a workaround that will enable me to scan a bank note, so I can remove the queens head and insert the panto dame's - and make it about double size. Photoshop spots out is a band note and won't let me do it, and redirects me to a website about counterfeiting.

Is there a simple solution to this?

Don't know whether this would work but you might try working with a photograph of a note to start with. Slightly reduced quality and maybe not quite square might make it less identifiable to Photoshop.

It's probably photoshop spotting the Eurion constellation (disguised as musical notes on the current £20 I think). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EURion_constellation

You (paulears) might have some luck in loading it into a cheaper image program (Paint, or some basic free thing) and editing out the notes/dots in the first instance so that when it's loaded in to Photoshop it doesn't mind?

I always thought it was a criminal offence to copy or deface the currency of the crown!

Only if it’s for the purpose of committing a criminal offence. Artistic expression/endevour is a legitimate defence.

https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknotes/using-images-of-banknotes seems quite clear on what you can or cannot do when it comes to copying or creating novelty notes etc.

That's actually FAR more restrictive that I thought it would be.

Might be worth taking a different approach...

The napkins are amazingly realistic, and I am blown away they are allowed to makes them

They won't have any protection in them, so maybe they will scan into Photoshop. Otherwise, use something basic like MS Paint that won't have that posh detection stuff built in.
