Tom
Hi all,Looking for a cheaper alternative to the Doughty Standard Coupler. To use to attach scaff to truss and vica versa. Anybody used Global Truss fittings? They seem to be the only thing popping up on a quick Google. Any other suggestions? Thanks T
timsabre
You can get 50mm scaff swivels which fit truss, I've used them a lot for drape bars or drop arms etc. They are not very kind to the surface of the truss however.
empyfree
Manfrotto make nice clamps, no idea on costs though.
the kid
I have Global and Manfrotto for different things. Both are good, I think the globo ones are perhaps a touch on the thinner side/lighter, not that there is anything wrong with that as they are still rated. I have some of these http://globaltruss.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ItemNumber=229&MainId=9&Category=16 which are really annoying as it is kinda made for their bolt heads. Not great at those times when you need to change it on the fly. IIR the Manfrotto ones are expensive, but I got some "special" ones that went down to a touch smaller than usual for some flying frames.
ontoprigger
When hanging things above peoples heads I find the cheapest option is not always a good idea, find a quality RATED product and get it for the best price you can

kerry davies
Just a cautionary word,Tom. If the truss manufacturer specifies a certain type or even a set brand of fitting then it would be sensible to follow those MI's. I have seen ordinary scaff clips used and truss damaged, as Tim confirms, and even clips for one type of truss damage a lighter section truss. Probably best to check MI's and follow them if there are any. Some makers do, some don't but always best to double check.

T If you look the bolt between the 2 clamps is recessed in and an alenkey, not as most others and a m8/m10 nut and bolt. If they are only ever going to be together thats fine, but we use them as doubles and as clamps with eyes, or spigots etc.
david.elsbury
Looks like a standard countersunk Allen key bolt?
Young Johnstone
For the love of God please don't use proper scaff clamps on truss. (these) Don't put them anywhere near it, there's too much temptation for people to tighten them up and damage the truss. It's then going to be a write off.
