I don't think TVs flicker. The time between edit points is much longer.

The only danger is creating a hum loop. The comms audio line is unbalanced and must only be ever grounded at one point, usually the PSU. Some PSUs/Master Stations connect the 0V line directly to ground, some via resistors/capacitors. Let me think on it.

Let me correct that for you... The presence of, or lack of, a DoC does not affect any liabilities. They rest totally with the person in the territory concerned who 'places the product on the market'. And that does not necessarily mean that the product is offered for sale, making it available for 'first use' is considered placing it on the market.

If you are lucky the packages will just appear on your door mat. If you are unlucky then you will get a card from Royal Mail, one for every package, which requires you to pay the fee at the local sorting office, plus, IIRC, a £19 processing charge per package. Although there is a lower limit below which they don't bother collecting.

Laptop headphone outputs are the work of Satan. I'm sure that I've commented before but I have come across various laptop which helpfully, sometimes, 'blends' the stereo signal to reduce the image width (a bit of L into R and vice-versa). There is no setting in the drivers to disable this and the 'decision' as to whether to do it seems to depend on load impedance and the order that you plus things in and power things up. Now, for your average dance show/spot playback it doesn't really matter but when your running timecode on one track and a mono mix on the other it can really, really, spoil your day. A decent USB DI box costs relatively little. Why mess around with half-arsed solutions like 3.5mm to XLR leads/DI boxes/ground loop isolators? I've got one of these in with each laptop and one in my show bag... They have a 3-year warranty and just work.

However, if you had a scope the problem would have been found in under a page of posts.

Seen elsewhere... Tungstram gone into liquidation. This is bad news for the theatre industry. Two of my suppliers are already out of T18/T25, T26/T27, T11/T19, CP62, GKV600 and many other lamps. Just cleared them out of T29's and o ly managed to get 5 between suppliers. Apparently no other manufacturers of theatre class lamps on the market.......... yet (acording to one supplier) though I do see Osram have a range.

You might be better off with something like this... http://www.db-audioware.com/dmxis-lighting-controller

Due to a glitch when moving over to the new software it has been possible for people to reply to commercial posts. Historically this is not something we've entertained and today I've fixed that glitch. All communications should be via PMs. [Gerry, the OP has not been seen for a week]

Legal Height for Platform without Railings
Brian replied to Georgia Forsyth's topic in Staging & Rigging
It's not helpful but the Yellow Book says this... D2.01 Barriers should be provided to all stairs, ramps, landings, platforms, balconies, galleries and other changes of level exceeding 380mm Now this is referring to public areas but it shows how seriously the authorities take falls. It is, in all other areas, completely silent on the subject. -

A few comments... Leads - the cable shield is connected to pin 1 and pin 1 only. It is never, ever, to be connected to the connector body. Ever. DMX Receivers - there are 3 possible circuit configurations for a DMX receiver. Isolated. Pin 1 is connected to the input circuit's signal common. It is not connected to the chassis or any other earthed point. Non-Isolated. Pin 1 is connected to the input circuit's signal common which is then connected to the chassis and incoming earth via a resistor, typically 100R. The resistor is there to limit the current flowing in the cable shield in the event of a system fault. Grounded. Pin 1 is connected to the input circuit's signal common, the chassis and the incoming earth. Isolated is the preferred configuration, the other suck from a systems engineering stance. If using Grounded receivers it is highly recommended to have a fully isolated transmitter.

1. Yes. 2. Whilst frowned upon, grounded receivers are permitted in the DMX spec. 3. The cable screen needs to be connected to pin 1. Without it there would be no connection, end to end, between pin 1s.

No problem John. -
Metro audio master station schematic

Hardly unnamed as my name is on every sheet!!!!!!!!! -
That feels like a very low SWL for such a large grid but without the missing 'other information' any advice here is going to be guesswork.

Go around your local DIY barns and see what returns they have cheap. People often return stuff that has been mixed to their request but is somehow wrong.

Strand Electric Stand ref 626. Compression Clamps
Brian replied to JJB's topic in General Technical Chat
They look a bit like posh car battery terminals. -
This ebay seller is OK, I've had chips from them in the past... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165397848595

Unlikely... Maximum Bandwidth: 200kHz Bandwidth ... is far too low to be of any real use.
-
If you are serious about wanting to fix things then it's time to buy a scope. £100 on ebay will get you something worth owning.

The 1002B certainly runs on batteries.

You mean the big red 'smoke' button? They are still widely available, however you should be sitting down when you look at the price.

Is anyone familiar with the MIDI circuitry of an ETC Ion?
Brian replied to alistermorton's topic in Lighting
A MIDI input normally runs into an opto-coupler, often a 6N137. -
I always regretted getting rid of mine.
