sunray
The listening test is a key issue, since using just a meter has meant some installations being passed as "OK" when in reality there's just 100mA / m of rabid mains hum in the room topped up with a small amount of unintelligible speech ;-) We did an installation in a finance house main board room (44 mics in table / 2 projector rooms / 6 video projectors etc) and on the AMX touch screen was a big red button marked 'Private', pressing that meant nothing of the meeting was seen or heard outside the room. This cut off all the tie lines, conferencing systems etc. During commissioning I discovered the Ampertronic designed loop was audible in the adjacent corridor and no amount of fiddling with levels stopped it while maintaining a useful level in the room. Luckily the refurb meant the corridor had no plasterboard on the far side and my solution was to run a vertical loop at head height in the wall fed with 1/2 wave rectified 12V and a resistor to generate a field just strong enough to defeat the loop. This raise the questions about the other rooms privacy and guess what? more work for us :)
