I'm a retired HR Manager who has no hearing in one ear and restricted hearing in the other so I rely heavily on an effective Induction Loop system being in place in those public buildings I use. I have been attempting to encourage our local village hall to get their Induction Loop system to work for the last six years at least with no success so I'm trying to get sufficient courage up to offer to take responsibility for sorting the matter out and I will need professional advice.

  1. I have a picture but don't know how to upload it. If I did it would show a Scart plug that fits into the back of the last TV I had. This had a female access into which a two pronged plug from the end of a cable from the Induction Loop cushion would fit.
  2. My apologies but the information sent to me is far to complex for a simple not technical person to understand. I will just have to do without a working induction loop.
  3. I regret that you are communicating with a technological ignoramus who has three questions. My elderly Bellman & SymfonInduction loop is only identified by these few letters and numbers, "BE 1150" I used to connect this to my old Panasonic TV an“TX-32LXD60A with a two pin male plug that fitted into the back of a Scart socket which made the task of setting up anInduction Loop very simple. I now have a new TV which is also aPANASONIC TX-55GX555B 55" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV. I keyed, “Low cost Toslink to analogueconverter” into the internet and there are a large number of thesedevices. Is it possible to identify preciselywhich Low cost Toslink to analogue converter I need? Having identified the appropriate Lowcost Toslink to analogue how does one connect it to the analogue converter and from there to my elderly loopsystem and the TV? Many many thanks for your help.
  4. Many thanks for your information. The first problem I have is that there are somany Toslink to analogue convertersand I have no idea which one to go for. The one below looks useful but I have no idea what cables I need orwhere they fit. The old loop set upworked by inserting the male fitting at the end of the cable from the inductioncushion into a Scart socket that plugged into the back of the TV. The new TV works on USBs and HDMIs sockets onthe TV. Many thanks for your information. I have a problem, I don't know how to ...

  6. Many thanksfor the information on the, “Echo MegaLoop?DAC™” It looks interesting and on top ofthat its much less expensive than other devices. ] I’ve onlyjust picked these replies up because I thought they came automatically. Many thanksBML
  7. The last Panasonic TV I had was an "TX-32LXD60A with two Scart sockets which made the task of setting up an Induction Loop very simple. There are no Scart sockets on the PanasonicTX-55GX55 5B 55" TV that I just bought and I have spent hours buying a number of different cables and converters none of which I have been able to make work. Does anyone have any idea what I have to do?
  8. Well the **** hit the fan this evening with one committee member saying that the WI use the Induction Loop System but my wife who is on the Village Hall committee replied that her husband had communicated with the WI who told him that they have never used it because they didn't know how to. Another committee member claimed that the old people's club used it but as my wife used to help out with that club she smartly told them that the Induction Loop was never used and as a result her husband could understand none of the announcements. Then the Chairman, not wishing to lose face because of his objections to spending money on sorting out the system said that he had tested the system with a machine and it worked. It was then agreed that two committee members and the Chairman would take the machine down to the village Hall tomorrow morning and test it. My wife suggested that perhaps it might be worth while to invite her husband with his hearing aid with its T switch to test the system to which the Chairman strongly objected. The meeting must have been more entertaining than "The Archers". I will keep you informed. By the way, is there such a machine that in the hands of a non technician actually check out if an Induction Loop works?
  9. Many thanks for all of the answers and suggestions which I would never have thought of giving any consideration to. I will now create a short note to the Village Hall Committee and await their response.
  10. I have no hearing in my left ear and only a very restricted hearing in my right ear and as a result I rely heavily on Induction Loop Systems in any public hall I visit. I visit our village hall for a number of occasions such as the old peoples club and when ever I ask the organisers to switch the Induction Loop on I'm ignored and the last time it was by being told that the system works with either a PA set up or an Induction Loop setup so the Induction Loop loses out yet our village church manages to operate both so are they talking rubbish or what. There are many of the old peoples club whom I spot wearing hearing aids but like so many people they are to embarrassed to question those in charge of the village hall. I realise the village hall committee are all volunteers and mostly still working so I'm trying to summon up the courage to offer to accept responsibility for sorting this matter out but I need some information such as: Are Induction loop systems really constructed so that the user is given a choice between PA or Induction Loop? What would it cost to bring an expert in to check the Induction Loop system out. In the event that the system is past it what would be the cost to replace it in a reasonably large hall?
