Le Maitre Firing Pod Cable

THIS IS THE SYSTEMCan I use Standard Flat Twin & Earth cable to extend the cable from Detinator Unit and the Firing Pod on this Le Maitre Cannon System?

We are looking to install the cable in a semi permanent way, I will be using Flexible 15A 2 Core Mains Cable either end of the F T E as Tails.

The F T E will be installed above a false ceiling.

Has anyone got the electrical specs for this system ?

Thanks

Matt

what's your obsession with twin and earth for everything?

I would say consider what happens if you confuse a sparky...

Hi Dave ,

We have a large quantity of Flat Twin & Earth at our disposal for Free - That`s why I`m hell bent on using it for everything ;)

But seriously , If I were using it to to feed the Pyro pods which I`ve just been told are infact 240V using 2 Cores & The earth , would this be in keeping

with the rules & Regs. ?

I know many factories that use F T E for switching purposes with no issues. Would a qualified sparky really just see FTE and cut in to or use it without being 100% sure

what it was feeding ?

I do however understand how using FTE for audio could confuse a sparky and thus chhanged the for 2 core speaker cable in relation to my earlier post

Thanks

Matt

As the cannons are indeed mains powered there is nothing wrong with using T&E. Just in the interest of neatness I'd be inclined to run T&E between a pair of wall boxes fitted with Powercons and then make up some Powercon to Powercon flexes to go from controller to wall box, and wall box to cannon.

I agree with Brian's post, however instead of using Powercon, I'd be tempted to use a unique connector to prevent someone from sticking the wrong thing in the wrong hole.

Bulgin make mains-rated connectors in a variety of formats.

http://www.bulgin.co...Connectors.html

I posted this before I found out the pods were 240v , I thought they were 12 volt like some of the other pyro stuff.

I`ve just been told are infact 240V using 2 Cores & The earth

So you won't be using 2 core flex as you need 3 core for the earth...

I'll be using standard 3 core mains flex

the pods will be located in an isolated area that is normally not accessible so I think on this occasion Powercons should do the trick.

Infact I think the pods are fitted with female powercons ?

Thanks for all your help guys.

Neutrik classify the powerCON as type A and type B:

Type A (blue) source

Type B (grey) drain

powerCON is not the standard configuration of plug and socket, it may be more helpful to think of them as source and drain. It looks like Le Maitre actually use type B for both the outlets on the firing box and the air cannons themselves.
