Bryson
Hello all. I'm trying to run a 20m VGA cable through a wall, but to get an actual VGA connector through would require a ludicrously large hole. "No problem," I thought, "I'll just cut the end off and get a rewireable VGA connector." But can I find one? Can I hell. There seem to be plenty of panel-mount options, but no cable plug. I find that amazing. Am I looking in the wrong places?
Ynot
Erm, how about this one from CPC....?:PYou'll need a shell, but that shouldn't be difficult to find....

tokm
Nope, I've not got mine either. Even though I've placed several large'ish orders and been promised one would be stuck in the box :P
Pete McCrea
Kramer do them too along with VGA cables designed to be installed, i.e. one end missing. It is a 15Pin High Density D Sub, which might make searching in catalogues a bit easier. They are a b*****d of a job to wire. I hate it, so where possible I terminate them to a wall plate which allows the legs to be taken to a Pheonix connector rather than having to be soldered to the pins. johnb
Just don't go there - I've still got the mental scars from having to make a VGA connector. Took me three attempts and three hours to get there!
dbuckley
Chop the cable, then join it back up - much easier to butt splice and heatshrink wires than it is to wire a high density D connector. Or, use a Cat5 converter :P
Peter Chivers
The last time I had to do something similar on an install I used a 5core VanDamme mini video cable terminated to BNC's and this: http://www.canford.co.uk/commerce/item_44-113_2001117.aspx to terminate it so that I could connect a standard VGA cable to it.Peter
bruce
but to get an actual VGA connector through would require a ludicrously large hole. Personally, I'd make the big hole - I'd rather patch that (or put a plate over it) than resolder the connector :P

Personally, I'd make the big hole - I'd rather patch that (or put a plate over it) than resolder the connector :P Definitely...we had a VGA connector on a flat-screen monitor die a couple of weeks ago; I had a go at soldering up the new one, my boss had a go when I gave up in despair, and eventually we sent it down to our local sound hire company who have a staff member who can solder and fix anything - and he said it was an awful job! He did fix it for us though...
Bryson
We went with the ludicrously large hole option. In the end, we were using a crowbar as a chisel to widen the hole. Fun indeed.

peternewman
In the latest "inspire" that came through the door from CPC, they now do some other suitable solutions, so I thought I'd post for future searchers: Wall plates with rear VGA and terminals plastic and metal. VGA to Ferrule leads 15m and 20m. VGA to BNC and VGA to VGA 90 Deg
