  2. Have had some wacky tracking details in past, packages taking world tour on their way🙂 Thing to remember is lot of Chinese are just small businesses like us, not out to rip anyone off, just trying to establish working relationships with customers. Capable of making anything equal of Western goods, if you're prepared to pay for it, but generally us customers want cheap, they can do that too...

    LED Tape

Poked around at PoE, get up to 20W over reasonable distance passively using all the spare pairs at 12V. CCTV PoE+ gets to around 60W at distance, affordable switches/injectors. PoE ++or something gets to near 90W but switches are expensive. Sometimes a small mains PSU beside item is just easier.

    LED Tape

WLed flashing possible even for someone with very limited electronic experience https://kno.wled.ge/ If the strip is close to ESP can get away without even a level shifter. Ready to roll, Quin range as mentioned https://quinled.info/pre-assembled-boards/ And Athom , cheaper on AliExpress https://www.athom.tech/

  6. Haven`t forgotten about it , will get a chance tomorrow to have a look. In meantime Lucynation has a blank plate for £8.00 https://www.lucynation.co.uk/Optikinetics-Solar-250-Spares/Solar-250-Spares/
  7. 3M VHB , might be a bit overkill, all its permutations are very permanent. Look up generivally Nano Tape, its clear and removable if need to change mirror again.
  8. Will do, at other shed so take couple of days. In meantime couple of links http://www.pooterland.com/ http://www.orioneffects.co.uk/ https://www.bubblevision.uk/ https://www.fourcornersbooks.co.uk/books/wheels-of-light/
  9. Will measure one when nearer the thing, simple to cut with some tin snips and hole saw. Issue with anything other than Crouzet style geared motors is the drive spindle is tight to top of projector, need a shallow output cog. Facebook has the Solar 250 Appreciation Group (Made by OptiKinetics) group, someone probably knows dims offhand there.
  10. Desk is going to need to cater to multiple users or usually same operator? Midi might be confusing for some, or something like MagicQ that can present a kiosk screen of looks. Watch out for your beam angles, some effects have narrow angles, not so much use in a smaller room. Mebbe treat wash and eye candy as separate items.
  11. What about Burnshield burn blots? https://www.sja.org.uk/first-aid-supplies/first-aid-supplies-and-consumables/first-aid-dressings-and-pads/dressings/Pack-of-10-3.5ml-Burnshield-Blott-Sachets/ Last time first aid was mentioned, was a dislike for these, but not sure why? Found them effective on soldering iron burns.
  12. Can't put my finger on quote, but Texas is into power rationing, no EV charging in peak hours etc. E2A one take on story https://nypost.com/2022/07/13/texas-bitcoin-miners-halt-operations-to-save-energy-amid-heat-wave/ Bit that stood out in story was Texas Industrial Bitcoin Mining Association or some such, were generously throttling back mining, allowing 1000megawatts back to grid, about 1%of total consumption, this was framed as a goodwill gesture.....
  13. JST like Molex and Phoenix make a few different connectors... Looks like mebbe JST XH, slight beware XH are 2.5 mm pitch true 1/10" is 2.54 runs out over a few ways www.awesomledlist.com has a connectors tab
  14. Few ways around, bridge from DMX or other trigger to Philips Hue, good lamps at a cost and require intermediate hardware. Led Strip Studio have adapted Shelly CCT lamps with an external DMX interface https://ledstripstudio.com/edison-bulb/ Glasson programmable festoon, not the budget option, https://www.glassonelectronics.co.uk/ WLed https://kno.wled.ge/ on a smart bulb, some are reprogrammable or Althom offers them pre flashed https://www.athom.tech Or delve into world of Tasmota and ESPhome probably generate a direct trigger from a PIR sensor.
  15. Mention of FHD may mean AHD, composite isn't so popular nowadays https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/surveillance-systems/what-is-ahd-cctv.html

    SmartScan SSC-2

It's a scan of a faded copy, only survived cause it was laminated.😉 Now to find lamps at a reasonable cost...

Is that the little plastic scanner with a string operated tilt? Or am thinking of something else
  19. Not a direct answer, general thoughts for those of us being typo bound and not having mind of programmer, used freelancer.com for couple of things in past, found better control and quality than fiverr. Arduino graphical programming, isolates the typos from logical errors, might set real programmers teeth on edge with bloated code, hey, if it get`s the project working. Tinkercad,https://www.tinkercad.com/ web based, has a code block style programming scheme and online Arduino simulator, even eliminates wobbly wires on the breadboard. XOD , https://xod.io/ functional block and wires style programming, really easy to grasp, slightly uncertain future at moment.(Russian development team, now looking to gift the project to someone that can afford the hosting fees) Visiuino https://www.visuino.com/ also block and wires style , has an NRF 24 block in the 39USD upgrade version No hijack intended Tom, leave a direct answer to your question to the Tims and DrV`s of the world that can code the receiver with one hand and complete the Times crossword with the other.

    secure email

Less comfortable relying on Gmail than once was... looking at secure/encrypted email. Main players seem to be Protonmail and Tutanota , mentioned by Tim recently, how are people finding they work in the real world? Installing PGP ,at my level of savvy is liable to leave me more exposed, not less😉 Guess slightly concerned about non technical recipients receiving un unreadable gibberish or replying with confidential content quoted back in plain text. What's the panels experience? Thanks
  21. Recorder route , DMX King le DMX Pro 4 , primarily pixel controller allows some expansion, with DMX output ,on board SDcard and 4 dry contact inputs, think will boot to last state.
  22. Neon is mostly strip in a silicone sleeve, the strip will bend 90 , can mitre notch the sleeve get a tighter turn, may involve tugging strip into tension.
  23. Anyone else use Henry powered hover boards? https://www.ianvisits.co.uk/articles/behind-the-scenes-at-east-londons-art-deco-gem-the-troxy-50997/
  24. Wilnae get 85Ah out of a 85Ah lead acid, especially in cold conditions. Probably figure on around half that before voltage sags close enough to battery damage and what to do with the batteries rest of year , need topped off to keep them alive. Lithium ain't great in cold either, have a bit of self heating once under load.
  25. Coverage comparison is always an interesting one, start with a string of 1K 5mm`s, wrap top 3 foot of tree , unwrap and apply more sparingly.. Diffusers like C9 covers , icicles, ping pong balls help do a Phil Space job on a tree without looking unduly tight. Another thought, usually 5V D.C., meteor /snowfall tubes, fills up the tree, low load because only few LEDs lit at one time. Probably run few for days from a USB power bank https://www.amazon.co.uk/Masqudo-Falling-Christmas-Cascading-Decoration/dp/B08K2VH9HD Buck is American for step down Boost is American for step up, helps with search terms sometimes, heres another step up, Amazon Prime appears to be cheaper and quicker than Aliexpress for some items nowadays... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Converter-Voltage-Adjustable-Interface-Inverters/dp/B09C1PLS79
