  1. Even projection onto black material can look quite good, depending on the result required
  2. Cant't you use a squeezable razor handle?
  3. I'd just hang it vertically. You can simply do a "rubbing " of the underside to make a pattern of the holes if the manual's not to hand. A load of threaded rod about M8-10 is useful and if you make the base out of Ali then you can also make some folds so that you have somewhere for the rods to mount You might find that a short throw projector might be better but they project off centre so check I have hung a projector vertically with a magic arm and superclamp
  4. 3x1 is better for flats anyway, regardless We actually have a wall saw, so ripping a sheet of ply is moderately easy but 25 mm ply sheets would weigh a lot.especially 10 foot ones.
  5. Make French braces to fit? If there's a handy wall you can stick a stage brace horizontally to a wall.Battens to hold several tall flats together
  6. That floor would be nice after a sanding!
  7. Anybody remember drilling a hole in the top of a spot so that a dot was projected onto a white board? You could blank the spot but still see the dot and move it to a plotted mark on the board so that when opened up, the spot was in the correct place?
  8. if it's scaf, then a simple truss clamp or G clamp off amazon might do? just replacing the short bolt with something like studding for more drop. then a home made plate But I have used tons of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Luxburg®-Universal-Aluminium-Projector-Mounting/dp/B00OS3BD8S/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=projector+ceiling+mount&qid=1574247716&sr=8-9 you'd have to engineer a girder clamp it's an I beam. Plus a safety.
  9. They are probably rubbish but there are cheap Halloween and Christmas projectors on eBay/Amazon but they are intended for use in darkness I saw a cheap Amazon projector with built in USB player and it was remarkably good for about £60 https://www.amazon.co.uk/ELEPHAS-Projector-Portable-Display-Compatible/dp/B07N39NDDB/ref=sr_1_1?adgrpid=53325860295&gclid=CjwKCAiAws7uBRAkEiwAMlbZjmvuv8X53ZwofNsUTCSpbHhbgzAUtz4cL80V_4LjZ081n6bQ-cudKhoCnQoQAvD_BwE&hvadid=259004377089&hvdev=t&hvlocphy=9050362&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=317935393724563952&hvtargid=kwd-316153028869&hydadcr=3517_1759316&keywords=elphas+projector&qid=1574194132&sr=8-1 At that price it's almost disposable
  10. Any body know what fittings ikea uses to project onto the floor?
  11. a floor mounted pulley only takes up about 8" square and hand over hand with a bit of sash gives quite a smooth tab action.
  12. if you're going that far then there are plenty of TV camera systems that allow remote cameras to be guided via touchscreen, auto follow either a camera based movement, or even follow a belt pack people are generally cheaper than the kit

    cheapo PARs LED

Thanks everyoneYes- it is to give "mood" for art performances which currently have nothing to separate them from someone just reciting something or performing in a large white room. The idea is to build a section of steeldeck or similar and whack some pars on it to create a performance space that stands out from the rest of the space I'll take a look at Thomman
  14. We use creffields for a lot of stuff https://www.creffields.co.uk/flame-retardant-osb3
  15. How good/bad are the £60 or so LED PARs from Amazon and the like? Including Gear 4 Music This would be to just get a general wash on an Art performance. Thanks
  16. https://www.vdctradi...panel-unloaded/ https://www.canford....1x16-XLRM-black https://www.canford.co.uk/Products/45-3301_CANFORD-XLR-TERMINATION-PANEL-1U-1x16-XLRF-black
  17. And don't get me started on camera base threads. All smaller cameras are 1/4" whitworth and throughout the world all cameras fitted all tripods Then someone invented a clever quick release clip based on professional cameras where you fitted a base to the camera and a quick release shoe to the tripod After about ten years the tripod manufactures cottoned on and produced their own built in shoe system but everyone developed their own design. This meant that they abandoned the hundred and fifty? year old screw on the tripod so that if someone leaves the base on a camera, the tripod is useless. Then you have to search through the myriad of shapes to find a replacement
  18. Not all of themI have used ones that stay exactly where you leave them
  19. Most manual roller doors seem to operate in a similar way to chain hoists. If a chain hoist can hold say, an engine, then it can act as a brake against the roller door? I don't think a roller has a brake as such?
  20. https://www.canford.co.uk/Products/2021020/45-077_CANFORD-DESIGNATION-STRIP-E-1.4m-x-12.0mm If you have room. I also have a dymo label printer. The estates electricians in our building use them to label light switches and sockets and they seem to last okThe tape is available in different versions When you say dymo did you mean the hard plastic tape that you printed out on a "Star Trek phaser " type gun? Very old skool When I worked in a control room we had a word document that we could print as an A3. Someone had spent ages working out a template that would slip into a channel like the above Canford strip protected by a clear strip.
  21. You might get away with an hdmi basic switcher. Afaik the se650 uses a frame store to synch so might not "wobble" if the hdmi is switched off screen If you have all the bits, a £20 switch might work
  22. I know that you asked about truss, and wanted to avoid it, but I have seen some massive drops done with scarf tube from a high ceiling to get a projector into place. (Unicol style)However one issue can be to find a way to safely access the projector once it's up
  23. I helped a guy make an art piece that was a heart beating in time to an audio track - then dying He went with a speaker for his needs but assuming that you stick with fluid, he made a clay model, plaster mold, then used silicone rubber for the heart. His was too thick on the first attempt but the mood allowed a few more versions and eventually he got a robust heart that would beat.
