mac 600 error messages

Hello hive mind,

Had an issue with a sticky shutter on a mac 600 today, which I rectified by removing the guts and bending it back to shape (it had warped in the heat by the looks of it so it was scraping along the plate thus causing friction). However, after reinstalling and reconnecting everything I now have error messages: COER and BT2ER. A quick look at the manual tells me that the colour and beam shape 2 wheels have lost their index position, suggesting to my mind that either the sensors are damaged or the magnets are missing. Does this sound correct, and can anyone suggest a remedy?

Thanks,

Dan

Did you disturb the wiring perhaps? Been a while since I looked at one so I can't recall how the sensors are connected but to have two fail simultaneously, and after you have been poking around in the vicinity, suggests a common cause. Also if you've had heat problems you should have a good look at the little interconnect PCBs.

Edit: one other thought - have youinadvertently swapped over the plugs for those two sensors?

Magnet dropped off or sensor bent back during internal fossicking?

I had a bent sensor on a Robe Spot 600 today that I reckon was someone being vigourous with the cleaning.

(Good to see you tackling the maintenance since I last saw you BTW).

If on boot up the colour wheel just continually rotates and the magnet passes the sensor, this is due to the stepper motor to shaft of wheel is out of alignment, the solution is to undo the grub screws on the drive pulley hold the shaft of the motor with needle nose pliers, rotate the pulley slightly, now tighten the grub screw, and re try the startup procedure, you will probably have to do this several times to get the exact position of the sensor / magnet alignment.

The exact position required can be identified within the menu of the fixture. Select: ADJ --> HEAd --> ALL

The fixture will then give the option to move all effects to the position required allowing accurate adjustment of the drive pulley on the shaft of the motor.
