(Sorry if this has been discussed before - I have looked through the list but can't find any ref)

Picture available as at 13/12/19 but not sure for how long s-l1600.jpg

Hi, has anyone looked into these new(!) Chinese 1024-channel DMX lighting controllers yet please?

They do not have a manufacture/model/make name so it is difficult to investigate. As at 13th Dec 2019 they are approx £350 via ebay and cheaper via aliexpress. They can control 96 lights over 1024 DMX channels (2 universes).

From what I have gained so far is that they are more of a moving-head show controller rather than a theatre-stage style controller but I am not 100%.

Here is the ebay link (as at 13/12/19)

Thanks

Looks like a pretty shonky Avo-like copy. The wonky faders and off-centre labelling are a nice touch.

It brings to mind the story of the Avolites guys walking around the 'Chinatown' section of one of the trade shows with a lawyer and a big hammer, and smashing up the copycat consoles that had clearly infringed their IP.

They used to go round the show, have a quiet word, and replace the copies with genuine Avo consoles.

In the UK there are three console manufactures - two who build everything in the UK, one that partly manufactures in the UK. Expand to Europe and you can add several other manufactures. Include the likes of America and Australia and you add even more. Not one of them sells a personality-based console for even slightly close to that price... for one simple reason - that’s not how much it costs to build a lighting console.

If you want support, software updates, new personalities, reliability, warranty, training, documentation, CE compliance, a phone number to call, spare parts, cyber security, quality control, etc etc, it’s just not possible at that price point.

You only have to look at what other items the seller has to gauge the level of support available in the event of a problem.

To be fair. The desk would be ideal for a crossdressing stripper joint, as minor desk reboots would probably not detract from the focus of the show.

Those silicone feet look like they'd be ideal to place on the bottom of a ladder to fulfill the requirement to foot it.
