sunray
Maybe when Brexit completes in whatever form the new testing system will revert to more like the old BS system? CE never really worked anyway as nothing was ever checked for anything other than printing. The biggest issue I have with CE is the cert and sticker only applies to whatever part the manufacturer specifies. So it is perfectly feesible to produce something which passes their specified tests but is non compliant in other respects.

UK manufacturers will still need to export to Europe so will still need to comply with EN standards and to CE directives.
sleah
Another factor, I suspect, is that a lot of the cheaply manufactured leads coming will not have been rigorously checked against BS1362. It might be interesting to do some real world tests and see how they actually perform. One for JW methinks :) Although he has set fire to some questionable cables already.Or one for Big Clive if he fancies setting his workshop on fire ;)
