Travel insurance with PLI

I need some travel insurance that includes PLI for rigging lights at a gig in China on New Years Eve. Anyone know about such things?

Probably a topic for the Crew Room or Office...

 

I do not have first hand knowledge, but strongly suspect that a) the two types of insurance wouldn't be offered together as a package and b) you need a company well versed in covering risks in territories which have different legislative systems and approaches from our own...

I personally wouldn't even try to look for a package like this but would call one of the industry brokers like Gallagher Oval or Robertson Taylor or Precision Broking. You may well have left it too late and might have to rely on your client to sort something out in country for PLI and an airport policy for travel.

Having never done this, or needed to, myself, I'd ask the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Chinese Embassy, and some high end specialist travel and tour companies. The FCO might be the best for information, after all they are the people who you will ask for help when things go pear shaped. Tour companies may well be open and staffed over the weekend for travel info. Can you talk to the people who found you to do the work, and ask them to find the insurance for the work.

 

However despite some life experience I'm NOT a business insurance specialist so this whole post may not be worth the amount you paid for it. Five days may not be enough time to arrange this with there being the weekend and two UK holidays in there.
