No longer with us the 'infamous' Peter Belt kicked off a whole industry with his foil strips back in the 80's - http://www.pwbelectronics.co.uk/a-brief-history

PS Active, Fibre and Hybrid Fibre HDMI cables - those definitely have to be installed the 'correct' way around, they have transmitter and receiver circuitry within the HDMI hoods.

When cruise ships cross the equator, do audio cables therein have to be reversed end to end to allow for the now reversed magnetic field <img src='http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />This sounds rather a tedious task, perhaps special bi-directional cables could be specified for such use.<img src='http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Just install 2 sets with automatic relay changeover controlled by geodata.

Better still - 2 whole sound systems controlled the same way, then there would be a full standby system.

This sounds rather a tedious task, perhaps special bi-directional cables could be specified for such use.

Ships tend to be fitted with bipolar uni-phase cables to compensate for the varying geolocation.

You can often tell when the ship is at the mid position between the earth's poles as the non specific polarity at that point can cause slight loss of sibilance on the upper notes and a slight mudding of the bass sound stage.

Luxury cruise ships often have high power cable magnets fitted which ensure a tight audio response at all times with no equatorial undulation.

Yesterday I walked in on a bunch of Portuguese fellas in a tea room - all watching a laptop, speaking rapidly in their language, but I picked up one word that sounded like "big-cliva" - and they were watching the flambeaux video! The man is a leg end.
