The quoted list of exempted cap-types is "GX9.5, GY9.5, GZ9.5, GP9.5HPM, G16d, GX16, GX16d, GY16, G22, G38, GX38, GX38Q, P28s, P40s, PGJX50, QXL".

How does this cover the Source Four HPL which is G9.5?

QXL base doesn't look like G9.5. QXL doesn't look like it has any traditional pillar pins at all.

G9.5

G9.5 has a pin structure like GY9.5, but the HPL heatsink arrangement is key - and whilst you could probably shove a G9.5 into a GY9.5 holder they aren't the same base type so I can't see the reg would allow G9.5 under the GY9.5 spec.

His piece in The Stage did include G9.5... hopefully it was just an omission in the first piece...

He does indeed! But in that list now GY9.5 missing and we "all" need that one for our 500W/650W lanterns (Preludes, Quartets, Acclaims etc!) with T18/T26/T27 lamps!

"G9.5, GX9.5, GZ9.5, GP9.5HPM, G16d, GX16, GX16d, GY16, G22, G38, GX38, GX38Q, P28s, P40s, PGJX50, QXL"

Yikes! I'm sure it's all under control (somewhere!) and this is needless worry!

The QXL is listed.... ?

If it helps, the QXL is used in the Source Four Revolution

The HPL is safe.

That was probably the easiest exemption as it isn't used anywhere else.

The full list hasn't been posted anywhere "easy to get", mostly as it isn't a single list so the ALD et al are only publishing summaries.

Quite a few other lamps are exempted under other regulations (eg because of use in other industries, surface brightness etc)

As in the original drafts, it's the details of how this affects LED luminaires that are more interesting for the industry,
