alabamaman Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 Hi everyone, we have two brand new laptops, both i7 with nvidia GPU and Windows 10, that recognize the external monitor, but simply can't project any image, if not for some seconds; like it couldn't keep the video signal.A Mac and a couple of much older laptops with Windows 10 have no problem. I noticed that on the nvidia control panel the two new ones can choose between geforce and cpu integrated graphics, but choosing nvidia doesn't solve. The older one has no choice and runs fine.I tried to disabilitate (not sure if it's the correct word in english) intel gpu but didn't work.there is a DR HDMI between the laptops and projector. any ideas?
Joe Fernand Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 Hav you tried removing the DR HDMI? How is the DR HDMI powered? Try reprogramming DR HDMI. How long are your cables? Joe
alabamaman Posted August 17, 2017 Author Posted August 17, 2017 we didn't remove the dr. hdmi because we had an EDID problem that we solved thanks to it.the dr. hdmi has been powered powered either by HDMI that by a mini usb cable.the cables are a 5 meters hdmi cable until the dr. hdmi and a 40 meters optical fiber.
Joe Fernand Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 DR HDMI - external power is often the more reliable option.DR HDMI - try moving it close to the Sink (Display) and or removing it as a test. Fibre HDMI - which cable are you using? Joe
themadhippy Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Have you tried hitting the fn key and the key with the 2 squares symbols?
Jivemaster Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Is your HDMI entirely compliant with all the security? Some HDMI shuts down in the presence of an insecure item, Maybe the old PC didn't detect something that the new one does.
grizzly Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Have you tried hitting the fn key and the key with the 2 squares symbols? In Windows, using the Windows + P key combination is preferable to Fn + F[whatever]. You can tell immediately what state the screen combination is in, rather than having to guess where in the cycle you are.
ninjadingle Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Win+P also has the advantage that it works on desktops as well as laptops - so easier to just tell everyone to do that!
alabamaman Posted August 25, 2017 Author Posted August 25, 2017 hi all, hoping to be useful, I just wanted to say that we solved the problem installing a new HDMI manager that handles both EDID and HDCP. the projector had an old hdcp version, and the laptop has the new 2.2, that is not compatible with old ones.thanks to all

Joe Fernand Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Both the HDF Integral and Linker will convert HDCP 2.2 to 1.4 - the Linker is likely more flexible with older kit as it can also down convert UHD to HD formats. https://tmfsolutions.co.uk/product-category/hdmi-converters/ Joe
