Chetnole techie
We have a stage curtain in our village hall with a nylon cord pull (running through a plastic pulley) - hard to pull curtains open & closed using the cord alone. All I need to try to resource is a handle operated winch. Does anyone know where I might get one without having to replace the whole system please. Thanks. Dj Dunc
Flints, Hall Stage or Hawthorns would be an initial suggestion.
Dave m
http://www.doughty-engineering.co.uk/cgi-bin/trolleyed_public.cgi?action=showprod_T63840It depends on the track that you have and the type of drapes. You can get very good results with a proper track and a simple pulley /tensioner and hauling hand over hand
ojc123
A word of warning. I went down the winch with a handle route many years ago. The wire rope would come off the drum if the handle was handled too enthusiastically. Students would often be over enthusiastic. After a number of these events I had it replaced with a proper hand over hand cord system and a tensioner by Joels. No problems since. The system Dave m shows looks more promising. Jivemaster
The forces that can be applied with a strong arm and a winch could well be beyond that which the present track is intended to accept.
