vinntec
Have you had a look at the Royal Opera House's Opera Machine video? I just did a check on YouTube and a search "calling a show" comes up with several other possibilities.
IRW
Also, check out the National Youth Music Theatre's video of an (UK Theatre Awards. Best Musical Production!), where we set up multiple cameras and a cans feed in a similar vein to the Opera machine!

paulears
Love the way people have 'poshed up' in the Opera House video!
Just Some Bloke
On a smaller scale, shows the scene change into the end of Act 1 of Dick Whittington, first from the audience's perspective then from backstage. It includes DSM, SM, LX, band, Flys, crew etc. Could be useful for the first session of the year to show students what they are working towards! Gerry
Why does the lx op keep saying thank you when he's given a cue. Not something I've ever heard beforePossibly as an acknowledgment to the DSM that he has received/ heard the cue being called?CheersGerry

Dave m
Just personal taste I suppose. It is actually quicker than "standing by" I guess that if the crew are used to it, just the speech pattern can identify the speaker
vinntec
Just personal taste I suppose. It is actually quicker than "standing by" I guess that if the crew are used to it, just the speech pattern can identify the speakerIn this case the LX op says "Thank-you" after each "go" which I certainly haven't heard of before. For a standby he just says "standing by" as normal. I presume that this is either an RoH way of doing things or the DSM's preference.
dbuckley
Or he's just a polite chap who has extended his politeness to his day job. At that cue rate, it's quaint, but on a different style of show at the "several cues a minute" rate it would get a bit overbearing, and take up intercom space that would be in tight demand. alistermorton
I've heard one of the sound ops on one of our shows acknowledge cues with 'Thank you' and I'm pretty sure he hasn't worked the ROH and there was a Q2Q comic recently where a time check was followed with Thank you as itwas a reflex so it does seem pretty widespread. Jivemaster
Can I hazard a guess that some shows will be very different from others! For Ballet " the Book" is a full or rehearsal score -no words at all.
