GU10 Pin Spot - Do they exist?

Does such a lamp exist to fit into a Birdie or other fixture?

Many thanks.

I don't think such a thing exists.

GU10's (assuming you mean the mains lamp) have quite a large filament making the lamp optically quite uncontrolled. It would be technically very difficult to make a focused beam like a pinspot with one.

Hi Tim,

I see your point regarding the large filament v the size of the lens and reflector.. Pity though..

Hi Clive, There are so many LED GU10's out there (look at CPC for instance) there would be a ton of trial and error, possibly leading to lots or divergent beams and not a single parallel one..

I wonder if a product manger from CPC has more accurate photometric data available?

There are LED pinspots around that project a very narrow beam. The tend to come with a cold white source though.

You're not going to get a proper parallel beam from even the tightest LED lamp ina GU10 package. You'd need some form of optic to focus the output to a dot at the target distance.

The simple answer is yes..... with barndoors.

Your misunderstanding the requirement a bit, PAR 36 Pinspot, 4515 lamp

is a 5 degree beam angle, a pencil beam with quite a lot of power in it.Low voltage lamp with trafo typically built into fittting.

Strand Pageant and R&V beamlights used a low voltage lamp with a large iron wound transformer built in to them.

Aircraft Landing Lights, ACL`s are 28V and run in series on mains.

Low voltage means a much smaller filament which is easier to capture and control the light from.Current Sharpy et al moving beam lites, use a very short arc discharge lamp.

GU10 referring to mains voltage MR16 lamps have couple of problems, small reflector, 50mm, and large filament , mains voltage, can never get a narrow beam out of them, in fact compared against 12V MR16 , GU10 has terrible beam quality anyway.
