Rozztech
Try looking around for the Crown LM301A really tiny goose neck mic so you can hardly see it I believe it has a pop shield too so your picture ill almost match it linkage =] Sam :** laughs out loud **: edit: addition of detail
smalljoshua
Are you looking to hire or to buy? It is a gooseneck Mic. There are loads of different ones available. If you are looking to buy, CPC code MP33739 is nice and cheap, but sounds good. (I have heard it) There are also offerings from Shure MP33351, and AKG MP33364. Sennheiser also do a modular range of gooseneck Mic's Pages 471-472 in the 2009 CPC catalogue. Josh
johnhuson
Audio Technica have a substantial range of goose neck microphones which may be of interest to you. I'm not a noise boy so not going to make any recommendations based on audio capabilities but from an aesthetic point of view they're fairly subtle. bruce
Unfortunately, Josh, the ones you mention are not what the OP is looking for - those ones all have pretty short tubes - 18" max. Perfect for lectern use, but less ideal for a freestanding front-of-stage mic. Sticking it ona short(ish) stand is possible, but it's still obtrusive. For floorstanding use, you're really looking for something with separate capsules and extended tubes. Maybe something like an AKG ck61 head , with a 480 body and a 1.2m extension tube? Talk to a hire company - it's a fairly specialised item. There's more to this than just the CPC catalogue :** laughs out loud **:
Bobbsy
AKG used to do a longish extension tube for their C391 Blueline (I know cause I own two of them!) but darned if I can find them in their online catalogue any more--might be worth a call. Otherwise, if you want "nice" mics rather than "cheapest I can find" mics, DPA and Schoeps both make exactly what you want and they're pretty standard for the sort of awards ceremony you mention (as well as things like famous tenors etc.). I've never had occasion to try the Schoeps but can vouch that the DPA (I used a 4023 but there are others depending on the pattern you want) is a very nice sounding and inobstrusive mic. Simon Lewis
Audio Technica have a substantial range of goose neck microphones which may be of interest to you. AT have made a particular point of making their lectern mics RF proof - citing the same type of problems mentioned above. I have used some of their ES range quite successfully on lecterns.... Although they sound very good, I feel that they (and probably many other miniature very directional mics) aren't as intelligible as a good quality hand held placed in the appropriate position! bruce
Bob - is that the VR92 tube? Fits between a Se300 base and a blueline capsule?
johnhuson
Sorry I hadn't cottoned onto the floor standing part, I'd assumed there was a lectern involved as it's an awards show. If you've got plenty of money to spend there is always a Schoeps capsule with suitable extensions. EDIT: Not doing well today, just noticed Bob has already suggested the Schoeps. cedd
There is a cheaper option which seems to meet the OP's criteria and if budget isn't up to schoeps. JTS have just brought out a floor standing one that should do the job. Never heard one, but the rest of their kit is pretty alright for the money.http://www.jts.com.tw/_english/02_products...ID=26&ID=82 Might be of use? I'm looking into a pair for soloists in an otherwise very minimalistic choir setting. They seem far less "In your face" than a standard mic on stand. Bobbsy
Bob - is that the VR92 tube? Fits between a Se300 base and a blueline capsule? That's the one, Bruce. Alas, I'm not sure if AKG still make them or not. The VR91 (the short podium extension) is listed as "discontinued" but I can't find any mention at all of the VR92 any more. Silly decision if they ARE both discontinued...it was the availability of the extensions that persuaded me to buy some Blueline stuff in the first place.
