Probably the wrong place to ask about this, but..

I have a blanket that is going to fall down from the truss. I have seen some sort of magnetic controlled devices controlled via the DMX.

Who make theese devices and what is it called

I know that Flints do a solenoid designed for dropping things, Flints, not sure if they have one with DMX. You could always run it off a dimmer channel or a DMX switchpack.

Hawthorn Theatrical hire a solenoid drop for £10 a week; they also do kabuki bars (not electromagnetic) for £20 p/w. I'm sure I've seen an electromagnetic kabuki drop somewhere, but can't remember where. Might be worth contacting Halls (Chas? Chas, are you there?)

isn't a DMX controlled blanket drop dangerous and outside the spec of DMX.

without error correction a small amount of electrical noise could release the blanket earlier than expected and smother someone (or it could land on your DMX flame cannon and then where would you be!)
