samuel
Hi. Is it possible to use a cable with a 35mm jack on one end and a USB end on the other for vision feed? I have a camera with an A/V output and would like to somehow get the live feed from the camera on a computer. Would this work and if so would I need to install drivers, or is there another option? Thanks!
david.elsbury
You can get cheap usb video capture devices, which take composite video in on rca, and appear as a video input. Even maplins should still have them, if not ebay
Dave m
what are you trying to do? there will be a delay. this might be less if you had a usb web cam type camera? if using it for anything practical that needs real time info, forget it. samuel
Thanks for your replies. I'll have a look at those devices, David. Dave, how large do you suspect the time delay could be? Just a few seconds? It may be used for broadcasting as well as for displays/monitors. Thanks again!
Dave m
Yes just a few seconds but for instance if used as a show relay to the bar or backstage may be fine.As a relay to the wings or as a conductor's monitor it would be no useI have done live camera mixes to projection with maybe a few frames (25 fps) but then seen it on my phone as a webcast, possibly 5 mins later. irishsound
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/intensity The reviews on this unit are amazing. It does have some hardware requirements though. So check with them first. Little to no latency. Good luck

Dave m
If you ring holdan, you can get to speak to a blackmagic rep who can tell you the delays
Jivemaster
I regularly walk through a room where the cctv is openly displayed as well as recorded. Its hard to walk through there because you know where your feet are but the screens are all different with their different latencies, well sub second, but irritating. The only systems with so little latency that they suit the conductor to choir requirement are analog.
sleepytom
Be wary of the Blackmagic Intensity, the USB3 version is very picky about which USB chipsets it will work on. Magewell also do USB3 capture devices which seem to have better compatibility with a wider range of USB hosts. http://www.magewell.com/?lang=en
