barrfieldsboy
I am stage managing a pantomime and the director has asked to fly the Dame on stage after blowing away in a gust of wind. We are in a theatre with no flying height. Everything has to be done on tab tracks. Is there something that can be done to acheive the above effect? paulears
Do a search on flying people and you'll see this has been covered plenty of times. the short answer is that you don't ever fly people without specialist equipment to hang them from, specialist equipment for the talent to wear, and training for those who fly and those who fly them. There is NO simple, cheap way of flying people safely. Tab tracks are for tabs - never for people!
gareth
The search function is definitely your friend. Useful stuff to be found here, here, here, here and here. Most important of all are the many, many warnings that you should not under any circumstances consider undertaking this effect on your own - getting professionals in to assist you is the only way, any other course of action is just too risky and leaves far too many possibilities for things to go horribly wrong. Tom
Sorry to open this up again Gareth but I thought it worth adding one point that I don't believe is covered in those other threads. We are in a theatre with no flying height. You don't need lots of height to fly people. The Foy system (and probably most others as well) are based around a track system, operated from stage level. Flying people in theatre is really quite straight forward. There are probably only three things you need:Suitable points in the roof to rig the kit from.Enough time in the tech to rehearse it all properly. And finally but most importantly, enough money to pay a professional company to come in, have a look, tell you what is achievable, supply and install the kit and either operate or teach your crew to operate. Good luck topic locked again for all the reasons given above.
