I use VB on Mac too, it just works in my experience but then that's why people use OSX ;-). If there are dependencies missing to run it on Win, then suggest just installing them as required. 

I've no idea about getting things to run under Windows these days, in fact XP was the last OS I used before the machine was retired. Later revived and running Linux. 

I don't doubt that all these things are solvable though.

Just a thought... do you have virtualisation (or similar wording) enabled in BIOS? It may be unconnected, but I just wonder if it is enabled does Windoze add some additional drivers behind the scenes that account for the reported missing ones?

It's a long shot but worth checking.
