a lot of work I had in the diary is up the spout - you never know what will happen next.

Can sympathise. Just after I went freelance a slip in the shower after the get-in of an Edinburgh fringe show cost me 6 weeks of lucrative broadcast work (& possibly a whole load of follow-up bookings). Not to mention some very painful ladder-work changeovers.

Sorry I'm late posting this - been ages since I've logged in.

Did a training session with Joe and Innesh at Sennheiser a while back, talked a bit about the antenna. Although the A-1031-U is omni, it's more of a ring doughnut in it's sensitivity when thought about in the 3d world, it only really picks up in the horizontal plane, not above or below. So dangling them above a stage and standing underneath them effectively puts you in the dead zone!

I also remember the A2003's not only amplify in the intended direction but reject behind them. (If I remember it's +4db forward, -10db behind?)

Good shout about the 1/4 wavelength minimum - something I don't always remember (I tend to mount close but angle downstage / upstage to cover the full stage).
