Get your armadillo model from "google" etc and make a vynamould mould from it and then insert clear casting resin carefully into a well supported mould. CAD files seem to be available, but you've little idea what they will look like, would a clear 3d print satisfy the director.

All depends on time money and skills available and how big the article is directed to be.

Our GOM Sold Out before 1st night! I ended up drawing the outlines of Armadillos onto plastic acrylic sheet used to cover fluorescent ceiling lights. Drew in some details and a friend cut them out with a lithography machine. Mounted them vertically and then used three mini spots on a cart (we could move during set up) to back light them. Worked a dream. Cost totally minimal.

We made icicles out of acrilic sheet, it was broken panels from a green House so in various shades of aged. Roughly drawn as long thin triangles and cut with jigsaw which left melted burrs. Once downlit with cool white tape looked good but we had to stop them swinging .

Apart from lighting and costume it was the only scenery change to denote 6months later
