  • Ferbenito LX changed the title to eurovision 2022 technical rider

If you wait a month or so there's usually a detailed write-up in LS&I.

Or go to Facebook and look at various manufacturers pages and you'll find posts detailing their involvement. I see Madrix had a post listing just how much LED tape they used.

There was a HUGE technical problem this year which meant that whatever was planned beforehand (including most of the programming) went out the window and almost every act had to be completely restaged and whole new lighting solutions had to be found all at the same time as the first rehearsals were taking place. It's going to be very interesting read this year!

I heard that they had an issue with the winches that meant that couldn't manipulate a huge portion of the set that was rigged on the rear with LED panels. Wouldn't want to have to try and re-design all that at 24 hrs notice!

Copyright maybe.  A bit like how it is illegal to publish night photos of the Eiffel Tower.  The "image" of the tower is long out of copyright, but the lighting design isn't.

That said, it is an audience-hostile thing to do.  "Shut up plebs and clap when we tell you to, and vote for whatever sh** song is most politically correct."

Since it switched to arena's there's always a thrust stage or even a surrounded stage out in the auditorium - predominantly so the hosts have a nice stage to stand on when talking to camera without having to worry about the crew in the background resetting for the next act - but that stage is also sometimes used by the competitors but it's a bold choice because (obviously) all the technical bells and whistles are on the main stage that by definition isn't clearly visible from the B stage

The Swedish guy who wrote the technical blog has moved on to the Great American Song Contest.
