JTilling
Hi All Looking for some inspiration/advice. We are rapidly increasing our rental stock of 16Amp cable ranging from 2m to 20m lengths. Problem is storing it all is becoming an issue. We used to have it in tote boxes but it no lnger fits in them and instead is becoming piled up in various areas of the warehouse. My question is how/where do you all store your 16amp and other cables such as 13amp?? pictures/links greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. J Pearce
On pegs is the standard - usually built out of either unistrut or scaff tube and keeclamp fittings. Bottle skips - the big plastic tubs on wheels - also work well, especially for venues who might want to wheel the stock closer to the stage for a fitup then back to storage but still easily accessible after the fitup. Stuart91
+1 for the scaff tube route - that's what we've done. It's been slowly expanded over the years (roughly in proportion to our hire stock) I didn't bother with Kee Klamps, bog standard pressed fittings seem to do the job fine. The tricky bit is how to support it, we were fortunate with girders running above that we could clamp onto.
the kid
We moved on to pallet shelving and pallet "bins" depends how much you need to store, but we get quite a bit in pallets with collars.
smalljoshua
A suggestion, instead of scaff, try Unistrut. Pre-made stand-offs from a vertical. Works great for us. Josh
Jivemaster
Having seen a warehouse with steel stillages stacked to the roof probably in one size and length in each stack and a big forklift for access and also seen "a few plastic totes/bread trays" you really need to sort out how much cable you need to store and what access you need, then sort out what will actually bear the load of what storage system you use.
