Studio100
Hello, I have recently bought a Datavideo 650 SE HD switcher and need a small monitor (19" - 20") to go with it for the multiview screen and wonder if anybody recommend a good make/model. I asked Datavideo themselves and their reply has left me more confused than ever. They say: "You could use any HDMI monitor available as long as the resolution is 1920 x 1080, that's a 16:9 aspect ratio. Most PC monitors are 16 x 10 in aspect and will have a resolution of 1920 x 1200, so that's something to take into account. And then there's the difference between RGB and YUV color signals. The PC industry uses RGB and the video industry uses YUV, in general." Should I be getting a PC monitor or a television with an HDMI port? If you only want to see what is there then a small domestic TV will be fine, they are so cheap these days. However if you are wanting to do more complex things (settings in cameras, colour balance etc) then something better will be an advantage. Any kit that I use for this sort of thing is still 15 pin (VGA) and I have a random selection of dated pc monitors and 19" Sony Bravia's. Sadly I've held off from getting up to date due to impending retirement.
