MarkBarl
Hi,I have an old Trantec S1000 VHF radio system. I have a headset and Lapel mic but would be interested in getting hold of a handheld as a get me out of trouble pack. I have seen an Audio Technica mic on the correct frequency. Would it work? Stuart91
You might get sound out of the receiver, but it can be problematic. If the receiver is expecting a pilot tone, it wouldn't work. Also different manufacturers use different companding methods, so there could be an adverse affect on the dynamics of the audio. To be honest, if I was in this situation I'd keep an eye on eBay for a cheap complete handheld system. Something like Sennheiser Freeport or Trantec 4.4 will be less than £100 and will do fine as a contingency item.
soundspider
The various offerings from KAM work well with the older trantec stuff, in my experience. Alan Sorry, meant to say I've never used the Audio Technica stuff!
Sound Man
There's a Trantec handheld mic for sale here. You'll need to find out what frequency it's on to make sure it's compatible with your receiver. David

sunray
It's not silver just bad picture. The older metal version was sometimes chromed but this one is black.Keep looking on ebay, most complete s1000 systems's go for less than this, ideally get one on a different channel to your existing.
