3 years later, any update on this one? I may have an occasional need for a bluetooth audio receiver, for that event when someone turns up with audio on a phone. Looking for something small, cheap and cheerful that can be chucked in the “box of useful bits and pieces” just in case it’s needed.

If I was doing this regularly or professionally, I’d be looking at something like a Denon DN-200BR - metal; box, XLR outputs - but I can’t really justify the 100 quid cost.

There are plenty of ebay devices aimed at the car audio market.

Also things like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bluetooth-4-2-Audio-Receiver-Stereo-Hi-Fi-Box-Adapter-RCA-Output-Support-APTX/142844205294 which are intended for connection to home hifi.

Any thoughts?

I needed a crying baby doll recently for a show, which was carried around on stage. I put a Bluetooth speaker in the babygro and used one of these to transmit to it.

Ok the the other way round problem but it worked a treat over 15m or so (which the built in BT TX in the laptop wouldn't). The unit also works as a receiver

I needed to get something in a real hurry and was given one of these:https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wireless-Bluetooth-3-5mm-Phone-To-AUX-Car-Stereo-Music-Receiver-Adapter-with-Mic/143301663446?hash=item215d71dad6:g:4zIAAOSwdwlckKxuIt did what I needed to do, good quality audio. I didn't try to do any range test, 12" through a brick wall was all I needed.
