mrcurious
I don't know all that much about sound and comms, but while wandering around the web I happened upon this Antlion Modmic The thought that instantly popped to mind was I wonder if I could take that attach it to my HD25's and get a nice and comfortable headset I can use at work. I know in the past while browsing around here I have noted threads where PC mics and things aren't recommeneded but never know why. Simply put (I know I waffle) can the modmic be added to my HD25's with an adaptor to 4pin XLR and come out sounding pretty good on our tecpro system. No, not as it stands. AFAICT, the modmic needs a power supply between 1 and 10v to make it work. A standard Tecpro pack does not provide this; it is intended to work with dynamic mics. sandall
Also, the headphones for Tecpro (& other comms systems) are usually 400 ohms. Unless your HD25's are high-impedence versions you might overload the belt-pack. AFAIK all computer-type mics & headsets use electret mic elements, & all require DC powering, usually +1.5 to +5v, though the Modmic appears to have a wider range (1 to 10v) than most. Comms systems use dynamic mics of 150 - 200 ohms impedence,.
boatman
Luckily for you the Bluecom system can accommodate lower impedance headphones and has switchable biassing for an electret mic as well as switchable mic gain. So, if you really need one of these mics to use with your HD25s, just build yourself a Bluecom belt pack and you're good to go.
alistermorton
It has to be said, with all the tweaks you managed to get into BlueCom, it's probably viable as a commercial product in its own right, offering some real advantages over the standard tecpro pack.
