gibbothegreat
I've been sent audio tracks for a piece in a festival I'm working on, which consists of 5 discrete audio tracks, which need to be reproduced through a 5-way surround: specific instructions are "five mono-wave files.24bit, 48khz.Labeled : L, R, C, Ls, Rs." I don't have access to a mutlitrack machine, and budget is (of course!) an issue. I do have access to a W7 laptop with firewire and a Focusrite Saffire Pro40 firewire 8/8 interface, and also an HHB UDP-89 DVD player which has the capacity to play in 5:1and will decode DTS discs. Would anyone be able to suggest my best option for playing these back? Happy to experiment and see if ether of the above options work, but time is short and I'm up against it... Many thanks in advance, GtG
Pete McCrea
If you had a Mac, QLab will do it for less than £7/day. Unfortunately not sure on Windows options.

Many thanks in advance, GtG *** I wrote all the below then found exactly what you want just released by Waves on the 3rd of June for Free *** Tracks Livehttp://www.waves.com/mixers-racks/tracks-live#presenting-tracks-live (It only costs $99 if you want support with it) *** Original reply for reference below. If you want a cueing system for Windows that will play them then SCS: at the 'Professional' level.(http://www.showcuesystems.com/comparelevels.php) SFX: unknown which license level as their website has been redone and is useless(http://www.stageresearch.com/page/details-sfx6) CSC Show Control at the 'LE' license levelhttp://www.ctrelectronics.co.uk/csc-show-control-features.php and of course finally if you can lay your hands on a Mac QLab at the 'Basic' audio license level which can also be rented. If you are willing to put up with inconvenience then you may be able to import and play from a DAW package for example Reaperhttp://www.reaper.fm/ Which has an uncrippled free trial version after which you must buy the software however for the vast majority of cases it's only $60, while Reaper is powerful the UI is horrible. Dave m
If you had access to protools or another bit of 5.1 software you could generate either a combined single track encoded to play in 5.1or generate a series of tracks that were steered to specific channels as spot effects
gibbothegreat
As ever, thanks all - will investigate the above options (access to a MAC may be an option, will need to check...) and will attempt to burn to DVD as belt and braces backup... not worked with surround before, so your help much appreciated.
