Brian
Any 250W MH ballast the right size will do. Plenty of industrial lamp suppliers (not just theatrical suppliers) carry them.

But will they though? looking at the specs from the original part, there is differences in wattage, amperage and various other factors.

Only 2 variants listed of 250W part though, differences in wattage would be,er, a ballast for a differnt lamp
adam2
I would suggest double checking the lamp current and voltage before use of a different type of 250 watt ballast. It would be possible to make a discharge lamp that used 2 amps at 125 volts, and also to make a different design of discharge lamp that used 3 amps at 83 volts, both would be 250 watts but would need different ballasts. A 250 watt ballast for an industrial flood light MIGHT WELL be suitable, but don't count on it without more detailed enquiry.
