litemog Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 At one of the schools that I work in, somebody has taken up the harlequin dance floor in the drama studio, rolled it up without putting it on the roll inserts and left it in a sunny corner for about a week. It is now very ridged. Any suggestions for flattening it out again, or is it, as a fear, beyond repair?
jonathanhill Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I would roll it all out again, on top of each other, and leave it for as long as you can, preferably somewhere warm to allow it to relax flat again. Then I would set it out as the space requires and lay it with a team stretching it as it is 'broomed out' by a couple of walkers with brooms brushing it from one side to the other. Then I would beat the person who stored it incorrectly with something heavy and vey possibly blunt.
Dave m Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 yes, they form ripples if not stored tightly in tubes but will settle out if left in the warm. The longer left, the better it will settle. Warmth is a definite bonus
Don Allen Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 One of the disadvantages of a LED lighting rig is not having the heating properties of tungsten to flatten out a dance floor.
J Pearce Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Underfloor heating is handy if you have access to a space with such a facility. Sunlight isn't bad either if you have somewhere clean enough to put dancefloor upon.
