cedd
I'm small fry in the work that I do, so I still use Liability Guard (part of the Music Guard insurance package) for my PLI. I buy my equipment insurance from Doodson, and they offer PLI too and are very good.
paulears
There are lots it there for self-employed people, but hiscox seem to get good reviews as specialists unions like Bectu offer some 3rd party cover in their policy, which was upgraded a year or two ago to cover issues with thrird party hired equipment. i_hate_fisicks
I used Musicguard for years, but started to wonder recently as my work diversified whether they still covered me. After much indecision and phone calls, it turned out that the PLI only applies to music events. Anything else technical, not so much. So if I was to put up speakers at a football match or a conference, that's not covered. I went to Doodsons after that.

Jivemaster
With the examples now in the forum about gensets probably NOW is a good time to be a PAYE employee, that way the employer is responsible and liable for what you do to his instructions. HSE website used to specifically say that every self employed person is a responsible, liable and prosecutable entity, and each one can be responsible also for all the people (their work and actions) below them. LOTS of people can need good insurance.

norty303
Doodsons. Their excess is half of what Musiguard's is too, and more likely to actually cough up
