seandk
Hi, We have recently started a new amdram group in our parish hall. It is a relatively new hall and has a decent sized stage. We are now looking at low cost ways to hang backdrops that they can be rolled up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. There is currently only 1 curtain at the back of the stage which is on a track but I was told by hall committee that the tracks were very expensive. Thanks in advance for any help :)
DrV
How wide does the cloth need to be? Our amdram group uses calicos which have a 2"x2" batten at the bottom and a line wrapped around each end. As the line is hauled the batten rotates and rolls the cloth upwards until it disappears above the borders. I'll send you a pic tomorrow if you likeDave
J Pearce
I'll let others deal with the rolling cloth (tumbler) idea, but for tracks have a look at flints area for tracks. If you can cope with non corded then it can be quite cheap, but even for corded systems it should not be prohibitively expensive.
the kid
Tracks can be expensive, depending on how you are planning on using them and the build etc etc. You might be looking at something like this http://www.lancelynoxford.co.uk/products/roller-backdrop-54m-x-4m-drop-code-rbd001 Lancelyn also make (im sure they do but cant find it) folding drape (drape that pleats as it rises) maybe 5 or 6 times till it is out. kitlane
Do a search for 'Oleo drop' or 'Roller drop'. You should get plenty of useful hits.
