Brian Posted September 5, 2013 Share Posted September 5, 2013 That's still pretty dangerous, if the TRS is in contact with the lantern it will get hot. There is a reason lanterns are wired in silicon flex. Indeed, TRS (aka H07RN-F, aka 3983P) is only good for 60 degrees which is a temperature you can (just about) keep your hand on. And even at that temperature it soon degrades into a cooked brittle mess. Lantern leads, both inside and out, should be in 180 degree silicone cable with the inside section, where the sheath has been removed, having extra protection from fibreglass sleeving.
