ImagineerTom
Trying to find an octagonal / polygonal / circular stage around 8m in the Stanstead / Bishop Stortford area for next week - anyone got any pointers as so far everything I've been offered is at the other end of the country with a crippling delivery/setup cost. Robin D
I take it you've tried Alistage in Harlow? Linky There's also UK Stage Hire in Ipswich albeit bit further afield.
gordontech
Any reason why you need that shape? is it for visual impact? Im local and have contacts with people like Alistage if I can be useful. G
ImagineerTom
It's going in a bigtop so needs to be "circular" - it's not possible to lift a normal circus ring-stage this high so we're having to outsource. Ideally looking for something around 1-1.5m high Alistage weren't the most expensive but were certainly quite pricey; I can get someone who will drive 150miles and do the job for less money than they quotedUkstage Hire seem to do stage structures/roofs rather than just rostra? Seano
Have you tried LS-Live? Forgive me if I'm teaching granny to suck eggs, but in most cases I'd expect a circular/polygonal stage to mostly consist of something bog-standard (like 8x4 steeldeck) supplemented with arcs/triangles/whatever to fill out the shape. Have you considered getting the bulk of the stage locally and subbing in the fiddly bits from further afield? (Thereby paying for long-distance delivery on only the 'specialised' decks, rather than the whole stage and it's legs - a Transit pick up rather than a full truck.) J Pearce
Impact in Olney have a 24' circle in their stock. Always found them reliable.

kerry davies
Have we not done this before? Alistage do three at 4.22m, 6.69m and 9.15m.Scroll down. We have done it before; Here! and Here!
ImagineerTom
We have done this before and as I say above, I HAVE spoken to Alistage and their price was in the top third of the quotes I've had - one company was prepared to drive from Cheshire way to deliver and install a circular stage for slightly less than the (seemingly rather high) price I've been quoted by Alistage and some other relatively "local" companies. The variation in price for a large circular stage is phenominal - thus far the variation in price between the cheapest and most expensive has been a factor of 10; as others have pointed out since the bulk of the stage is £15/week steeldeck I'm struggling to rationalise quotes of £3000 and trying to find people closer who have a sensible grasp of pricing. ImagineerTom
Today I have learnt that I should quit my job and just work assembling steeldeck stages - it seems to be the best paid job in the business; £400 for 2 guys to assemble 22 deck pieces (steeldecks own estimate, about 4 man hours) isn't the most extreme, expensive quote I've received. timsabre
Today I have learnt that I should quit my job and just work assembling steeldeck stages - it seems to be the best paid job in the business Probably because it's one of the hardest jobs in the business... especially if it is real steeldeck.
