Rich
Evening all! I've been given a Toa RA1000 series amplifier. It's 3U and 300wpc into 4 ohm. One channel works fine and the other is extremely quet. The owner told me he thought one of the output chips had blown. When I asked a friend about fixing it he said that the parts were no longer available, and it would be more money than it's worth to try and fix it. I was wandering whether anybody knows if it's possible to simply replace the blown chip(s) for generic ones? If anybody has an idea please could you let me know. Thanks for your time. Pete McCrea
Probably likely. Our workshop man works wonders with peoples kit, and can usually find the components to do the job. The parts are usually quite cheap too. PM if you'd like to know more.

Jivemaster
The most valuble part of any repair is the diagnosis. If the low chan is ok quality then there is a prob with level, an op stage prob usu gives terrible distortion or DC at the LS.
