Gareth A
They probably fail to mention that they actually design a CD player worth that sells for £5000. . . . Fair - my wrong choice of words. ! Also if you need a Sky-Box - Only £99 on amazon.co.uk Or a 20M HDMI Cable for £1592!!!
alistermorton
I bet all the electrical wholesalers are kicking themselves that they don't mark up their consumer units 1000% The same part, only much cheaper It's all wasted unless you use a reference 13A plug, though. http://www.russandre...GXVVGRPNKBKTZKD You know, to the untrained eye that looks exactly like any other 13A plug. Lucky we have Russ to identify the reference article for us.
grizzly
No idea about mains leads, but the good folk at d&b UK did tell me once that they had experimented with speicalist speaker leads for a laugh. They'd been repeatedly approached by this chap who had what he assured them were the best speaker leads possible to design, which would, he promised, transform their audio experience. After giving him the brush-off for many months, they thought 'what the heck' and agreed to give it a go. They set up a demo - and were duly flabbergasted to discover that it did indeed make a substantial difference. Given that they were, to a man and woman, sceptical to start, I suspect that a placebo effect is unlikely... Blind testing? Double blind testing? Sounds very suspicious to me... sleah
A polarity tester that doesn't test polarity, or test anything for that matter.
Hugh
Apparently this cable can make your bass player better. "Upgrade your REL subwoofer by upgrading its cable. Typically you'll hear better bass extension which is more rhythmic and musical. It's a must if you want to hear what your sub is capable of!" chelgrian
Blind testing? Double blind testing? Sounds very suspicious to me... I assume you know about the specialist speaker cable that Quad ElectroAcoustics have used? It's bright orange and is available from outlets of B&Q. You need to chop off the mains connectors before using it as speaker cable. Russ Andrews claims are tame (although far more expensive) compared to http://www.machinadynamica.com/
andy_s
my personal favourite is the Burn-In Service. It's well-known that cable straight off the reel has yet to reach its full potential in terms of musicality, but they can save you the hassle of leaving your five grand CD player on repeat for up to 500 hours by specifying the Burn-In service when ordering cables and interconnects. See the Accessories section of their website for details. PS - what would be the average life-cycle for a five grand CD player? I wonder if you would experience noticeable degradation after about 600 hours' use?
