BigYinUK
Hi all Please could someone explain how this works for a band? We have PLI for our B&B but that's simply tagged on to our home insurance? Wrt to bands, who actually takes out the insurance as the band at the moment doesn't have any legal identity as such presumably? Also, who could we approach for a policy. I can't see comparethemeerkat.com being any help :) Regards
kerry davies
The "normal" manner for brokered PLI is for the policy to state;"Big Yin and associates listed below.....". Obviously the "usual suspects" of Doodsons, Robertson-Taylor, Oval and Precision Broking know the entertainment business best and are worth a phone call. AON does the BECTU policy and are relatively new in our field but might well have something useful to say. Simplest solution? Join the Musicians Unon and get it with membership. paulears
... and of course the MU, who operate a scheme similar to the ABTT one for their members. Swinton also provide specific musicians insurance link

It would appear that, as of 1st May 2012, Hencilla Canworth are now underwriting the BECTU PLI. They are also underwriting the insurance for the MU, Equity, Directors UK and ITC.
